Jokey Jockey

(… and now the world-famous jockey rounds the final turn… He passes Hoosier Daddy in third, It’s Just a Flesh Wound in second, catching up to the leader Comical Horse Name in first! Into the home stretch, this scrappy 90-to-one longshot closing the gap, they’re neck and neck, heading for the wire, aaaaaand iiiiiiiiit’s…)

(The suspense is killing me. I hope I win. )

I have a racetrack just down the road from me…if this was happening there I might go…

(How is it that “Comical Horse Name” is the funniest one..?)

I don’t know Allein…Hoosier Daddy is pretty good too!

Comical Horse Name made me think of this window display (which I usually use as my facebook banner pic in December, though I didn’t this year; I used a David Zinn sidewalk art piece).

I have now saved that image and, assuming we survive until the next holiday season, it will be gracing my FB feed…

            Excellent Allein! šŸ¤£

I got the horse right here, his name is Paul Revere, and a guy who says if the weather’s clear, can do, can do…My guy says the horse can do [Fugue for Tinhorns, Guys and Dolls] That kitty looks like she really loves that horse.

      ‘m picking Valentine,
      Cause on the morning line,

Kitty looks like all of us after yesterday, just hanging on for dear life and hoping it either ends or gets better. Loving the names of the horses. This has been one f..’ed up week. Got news on Monday, that a good friend passed unexpectedly, probably from complications of Covid. Then the stuff in DC. And we’re not even one week into 2021. Hopefully, we’ve hit bottom and it’s all sunshine and unicorns from here on out.

And oh … just like kitty, GROUP HUG EVERYONE!!!!

I’m so sorry for your loss, AJ. We all need our friends; it’s sad that one of your is out of reach now. I hope your memories will help to sustain you.

      To you and everyone ā€¦

So sorry to hear about your friend.

      Absolutely group hug time

Iā€™m hugging everyone tightly right now.
    But from six feet away.
    Possible pneumonia relapse.

Duckie, Marci wants to send healing purrs to you, I hope you will feel better soon!

      • Debg January 7, 2021 / 5:55 pm

My kitties say the same thing. Healing purrs all around. And hugs from me, from six feet away.

    • AJ January 7, 2021 / 1:58 pm

I’m sorry to hear that Duckie! Stay warm and feel better.

After Joss Whedon released Dr. Horrible’s Singalong Blog, with a supervillain named Bad Horse (actually a horse), someone on one of my political blogs took the nym Bad Horse’s Filly. It’s always been my fave horse name. . . until NOW!!!

BC under COVID restrictions until February 5.

    • Alice Shortcake January 7, 2021 / 9:27 pm

England under lockdown until March, total confusion over Covid vaccinations, panic buying in parts of the country. At least nobody has been shot dead trying to storm the House of Commons.

      • debg January 7, 2021 / 10:37 pm

Weirdly, I envy your lockdowns (and lack of storming the House of Commons). We’ll never find the political will in the US to do that again, because we wasted the first one. And of course our infection and death rates just keep climbing.

Want to enter kitty in the next Bryant Park Stakes.

    • debg January 7, 2021 / 10:41 pm

Man, I miss NYC! When I lived there, decades ago, I worked at 42nd St and Fifth Ave, just across 42nd St from Bryant Park and the Public Library. Many happy lunch hours were spent in Bryant Park.
