I don’t mind snakes, it was the tarantula (and the note that the owner had 14 more) that almost had me nope out.

Peeps…anyone remember 🎵 “I don’t like spiders and snakes, and that ain’t what it takes to love me…” 🎵 Or something like that anyway. Just be glad it is printed rather than sung by me.

Thanks for the warning, I can’t stand bugs and spiders of any size.

Guitar player’s grin as the parrot sings = priceless. Reminds me of a favorite David Sedaris line. He’s gone to visit his older sister, who has a parrot, and the parrot speaks to him in his sister’s voice. Line: It was weird hearing my sister’s voice coming from a beak, but I can’t say it displeased me.

I am reading Sedaris’s ‘The Best of Me’ right now, and the first story’s line, the protagonist referring to his female co-worker ‘she poked me in the stomach with one of her hooves’ was equally hilarious as awful. Man he is funny.

I’ve been listening to The Best of Me and the whole neighborhood has probably heard me laughing. Six to Eight Black Men is a holiday classic, so I saved it for Christmas Eve.
Listening to him read is funnier than reading him. Listening to him in a live recording is best of all–the audience usually starts laughing about 3 words in and doesn’t stop until he’s done.

Omg Deb that is so weirdly amusing! 🤣

It’s Sedaris, not me! He can reduce me to helpless tears of laughter in minutes, especially when he talks about learning French.

I think Mello knew exactly what he was doing and thank you to that couple for not ignoring him and getting him help plus fostering him until a home could be found. Definitely a 4 onion story. Unusual pets was, uhmmm, interesting? Me and hubby have had a few reptiles and birds over the years but insects and semi-wild animals??? Nope and nope. Love bodega cats and the singing parrot. I’ve heard worse out of “professional” rock singers.
Mello has the sweetest face. And an Instagram page.

Finally had a chance to watch Mello’s video! What a sweetheart! And what great people, to take him in, socialize him, and then find the perfect home.
I call shenanigans on the parrot video.
Led Zep parrot is pretty good, if you ask me. I’ve heard worse.
WARNING! Avoid the “unusual pets” if you are phobic about bugs, snakes, and other creepy-crawlies. {{{ick}}}
Thanks for the warning–I do not enjoy snakes!
