So you think that deluxe double-locking six-foot-tall gate will keep your pet out of the living room? Think again! In this video compilation submitted by Murray C., there’s barely a barrier our clever pets can’t get over, under, around or through.

Most of the escapes are cute, funny or ingenious but the one at 0:45 made me unhappy, that crate is too small for that dog and there’s not even a blanket for him to lie down on.
My thoughts exactly. I stopped the video in case there were more like that one. 🙁
It’s like watching an episode of Mission Impossible. The ferret escape proves they are way too smart. I found the best puppy/kitten barrier is a plastic folding table. You can get them in lengths from 4-6 ft to fit most areas, they’re taller than most baby gates, and they are a solid wall, there’s nothing for them to squeeze through or use as a ladder. So unless they’re an amazing jumper, escape has been thwarted.
My mom used to have one of those wire-grid shelving units (flat squares with connectors that you could configure in various ways) in her closet. When Pablo lived with us she used three pieces of it across the kitchen doorway, and another few pieces from the end of the peninsula to the wall to keep him contained in the back half of the kitchen. It went behind a chair on one side and and box on the other so he couldn’t move it. Works well when your dog is under 10 inches tall and not much of a jumper.
Did anybody else want to start a limbo contest for these clever critters?
I for one welcome our new furry overlords.
Ya weaseled yer way outta dat one, dint ya?
OMG the donkeys in the second video!
