This Old Dam House

On today’s program, we’re gonna head out of the wood shop to get a nice branch for the missus. Now, the most important thing in picking the right branch is to get one that’ll fit into your shop. The second most important thing is to always have your cutting tools handy for when you forget the most important thing.

THIS IS THE GREATEST. The matter-of-fact-stroll though the office to go get a branch. The immediate solution for the problem, The nonchalance of all present.

The You Tube video is little better. It has slightly more detail.

He looks like he’s chewing gum at the beginning.

Now that’s using the old noggin (or at least part of it). Everything about this post cracked me up – Mike’s backstory, how blase everyone was, how he tried to continue pulling the stuck branch into the office, and then cutting things down to size.

Did I miss understand something? Filbert, the beaver went outside by the stream to get a branch, then take it back into the office. And then, to carry it into the back of a truck? Doesn’t he know dams are built in the water? Clever thinking to gnaw off the branch, so he could get it inside.

Why didn’t anyone explain to me as a kid that I could have a job where beavers regularly strolled through their office on the way to their dens to bring their lovely beaver wives newly cut branches? Why oh, why? (Puts head down on table and sniffles…)

I know. The Oregon Zoo looks like a GREAT place to work

I never get to see beavers on my commute. Granted, I work at home, but still . . .

Glad the beaver was rescued. No beavers in NYC subways.

Love watching critters solve problems! Filbert is especially talented.

Has anyone else noticed that a beaver’s tail looks just like a platypus’s beak?

OT: finished listening to Watership Down last night and couldn’t believe I’d let the book sit for so long since my last reading. Talk about critters solving problems! It was just heavenly.
