“Jingle Mouse, can you hear me? We’re right here, so don’t panic! We’ve called in a trained professional to get you out, and if that doesn’t work we can have the National Guard here in just a couple of hours! (Oh, this is all my fault!)”

Aw. Should we tell them that the bottom drawer under the oven probably comes out? (I know mine does. I occasionally pull it out to vacuum under there, and I once had to do it to retrieve a grape.)
If I knew the oven drawer came out, I would have fewer reasons to NOT vacuum under there, so ignorance is bliss
This is one of your greatest posts Mike. “Don’t blame yourself, Helen” is spoken by the cat with its paw on the other cat’s back? I think if I ever get another cat I’ll name it Helen, male or female.
I love it too! Such a feel good post on so many levels. The kid, the cats, the concern!
Sweet.
Hopefully they don’t have to call in the Dachshunds…
Great idea! That would be hilarious! This is the beginning of a great screenplay.
I’d pay to see it when it’s made.
So would I!
There is nothing like the joy of a cat or dog when you retrieve their favourite toy from somewhere they can’t get it.
Even if they were the ones that keep putting it there…π€£
I’m on the floor with laughter over this one. Send in the National Guard!!?? That’s the best part or is the hovertext? One of Mike’s best.
I’m fixated by those amazing coats and tails on the kitties. Just gorgeous.
This is the reason I bought a door draft stopper, not only does it keep the cat toys from going under the stove it also allows me to pretend that I don’t have to clean under the stove.
Win win for everyone in the house.
THAT ^ is brilliant. It would have worked beautifully for my cats.
Ricky, alas, only ever wanted his pee pads right in front of the stove in our old apartment; though he decided on the fridge in our new one. Whatever ideas I may have had about what constituted a sanitary kitchen had to be revised in a hurry. π Bibi has decided on a spot near a living-room window β¦ mostly.
Dying with laughter here. Mike’s post is beyond brilliant; comments are chef’s kiss.
Got my first jab this morning, then foolishly ate a big, slightly spicy lunch. Pro tip, folks: don’t eat even mild, old-lady-gringo salsa after your vaccination. Had to clock out early thanks to nausea.
Hey, Deb, keep me posted on that nausea. My jab is Saturday and my range of emotions is bouncing between rejoice and freak out.
They should have therapy animals at these events. Iβm sure I could withstand an injection much better if I could watch these two play with Jingle Mouse.
The shot itself was nothing. These people have things down to a, well, a science. Was dismayed by the length of the line, then saw it quickly moved. The lady who gave the shot was fantastic–I barely had time to think “ouch!” before it was over.
Don’t eat spicy food afterwards if you’re worried about nausea. Guessing that the nap, a good night’s sleep, and a bland diet will have me right as rain. I’ll pop in tomorrow to update.
I’m wondering if the nausea is actually related to the shot? Of course it can be but I have heard most symptoms show up after the second shot?
Either way I hope you feel better soon!
For me, itβs definitely related to the shot. Just thinking about a shot makes me nauseous.
π
Oh well yeah. There’s that. βΉοΈ
Good luck Duckie!
Again- Mike you constantly amaze me with your clever writing skills. I very seldom comment, but I read each and every post. And, I’m tickled how you come up with so many narratives! Such an old-timey feel to them also, which I adore! π
And if the National Guard can’t help there’s always that old standby, two men with a small bulldozer…
