Why dogs love speed, rare leopard cub, frogs in rain, pig cafe, and more.
Does Your Dog Get the ‘Zoomies’? Here’s What’s Really Going On

And finally: Dee-Leeeee-Shuss Air!
At least it’s low in calories, Dana D.
Good to see flowers not just standing around looking pretty. Making themselves useful providing shelter from the rain to frog couples. The racoon out for a ride , enjoying the air!
That racoon’s happiness made ME happy!! 😁
Zoom zoom zoom!
Between the Roomba and the 4 little kittens, I’m ded.
How appropriate that a doxie is called Strudel. And I had a dog that used to dance for his dinner too. Talk about zoomies!!
Funny “dog” taking the air, literally. Such cute kitties, one of these is not like the other. The picture with the tabby in the middle almost reminds me of a layer cake with white frosting. (Can you tell I haven’t had breakfast yet??) Oh my goodness, that lil leopard cub taking the bottle, the bottle is almost as big as he is! Who would have thunk that frogs could be cute and have such sweet expressions. Great photographer to get such amazing pics. That’s awesome the piggy cafe is giving back to the community, so many of the pet cafes over in Japan seem semi-exploitive to the animals but this one seems to being doing right by the pigs.
Clouded leopard cub. Thunk. I’ve seen full-grown ones (sort of–they’re shy) at the Santa Barbara Zoo, but never a baby before.
PS my ferals are improving! Mama, whom I call Cloud because she looks like a clouded leopard, and the two males seem happy to eat in my yard but not if I’m too close. For dinner last night, I put food near my back deck and sat on the stairs to see what would happen. The boldest black kitten worked up the courage to eat with me sitting maybe 8 feet away. Two other black kittens played hide-and-seek, trying to sneak over to the food without me noticing. They ultimately waited until I went inside, as did Cloud’s mini-me (Cloudburst) and the adults. In this new feeding location, I can watch everybody from my basement window–very convenient! The 3 black kits have very different faces. Everybody is cute as can be, of course.
I love reading about your ferals and I am happy that there is progress.
I keep trying to get Maszat involved in the wand/ feathered rod chasing game. She appears aloof, chasing a wand may not be a regal enough activity for a beautiful cat diva, but secretly she is interested.
Re the 4 rescue kittens: one had a “warble” on its neck. What is THAT?
warble: a swelling under the skin especially of the back of cattle, horses, and wild mammals caused by infestation with maggots of a botfly or warble fly (Merriam-Webster)
“Cats are accidental hosts of Cuterebra larvae. They are most commonly infected when they are hunting rodents or rabbits and encounter the botfly larvae near the entryway to a rodent’s burrow. Most cases of warbles in cats occur around the head and neck.”

I’ve seen a cat with one on The Incredible Dr Pol YUCK!!
Thank you. Now…. ick.
Yeah..
Obligatory headline reference video:
Wow,
I feel freakin’ neolithic now I used to watch that show
I think I prefer FRAP (frenetic random activity periods) to zoomies. Example – “Look at that dog FRAP!!”
It sounds slightly naughty to me. But then my mind lives in the gutter.
Sounds like a Don Martin sound effect to me. A short list can be found here: https://www.madmagazine.com/blog/2014/07/15/whats-your-don-martin-sound-effect-name
It just made me think of frappucinos from Starbucks.
It’s also the sound of farting in the ‘Zits’ comic strip. Which adds a whole nother level of funny here.
