Happy weekend, Cutetropolitans! We have a new guest visiting us today, courtesy of reader Tara O., who writes: “Am visiting very good friend in western Mass. This is Oscar-honey at his favorite window perch where he has fabulous view of the frog pond.”

Welcome, Oscar!
Happy Caturday! Here’s a thoughtful kitty.
That is SO adorable!
A very thoughtful bebe. And so pretty!
Going back to the zoomies conversation from the other day…
Hey, turtles FRAP too!
Very cute.
Heya Allein, are you in an area that will be in the path of Henri? I think a few our peeps here on the site are in the area. Thinking of you guys, stay safe!
I’m in “Tropical Storm Conditions Possible” territory, according to the NOAA site. Weather.com says tropical storm warning, heavy rain, wind 10-15 mph with gusts up to 35. Coastal flood advisory but I’m sufficiently inland it won’t affect me. My neighborhood is not prone to flooding or anything (and I’m upstairs). The hourly forecast shows rain/thunderstorms from 7-10 tonight and most of tomorrow and showers/scattered thunderstorms on Monday. Supposed to go to my parents’ for dinner tomorrow but I guess we’ll see.
The folks in Philly and NYC have more or less the same forecast.
Ok, sounds manageable — good stuff.
Update: Henri seems to have more or less skipped over us here in central NJ, at least. The “tropical storm conditions” flag is gone but it still says flooding possible and showers and thunderstorms likely this evening…though I just looked outside and saw a fair amount of blue sky. Did get some heavy rain last night and early this morning, and lighter rain on and off through the day.
So who knows?
Sounds like you are through the worst of it– more good news. 🙂
Apparently it changed course and went to Rhode Island instead…
Watching the news and saw there was major flooding in the town right near to where I work, and in the main street of the town I drive through to get there. Wonder if I will be able to drive through there tomorrow…
Happy weekend everyone and welcome Oscar! Very distinguished looking gentleman and fierce hunter. He must be French, eating cuisses de grenouilles is very popular there and he’s welcome to them.
What part of Western MA are you visiting Tara? I used to live just outside Springfield back in the late 90s and my family used to visit friends in the Berkshires when I was a kid. I remember camping at their farm one year when a pretty fierce thunderstorm blew through and little me desperately needed to visit the facilities but didn’t want to go out in the rain. We did have a pot for such occasions but couldn’t find it until mom saw it floating past the trailer, lol.
Having a little rain here in SoCal which is needed. Unfortunately I think it’s only going be the proverbial drop in the bucket of what we need. Had an amazing dinner at a new to me Mexican restaurant last night to get the weekend started. They had a dish with green mole that was so yummy and I treated myself to a watermelon and cucumber Margarita. Haircut and shopping today after a nice soak in the hot tub to get the day going. And who knows for tomorrow. Have a good weekend everyone! Almost forgot but Allein your posts are too cute!
I had to Google “green mole” as I feared the worst…
😂🤣😜 Alice!!
Oops I should have explained better for the non So Cal people. It does sound similar to green mold and could be ominous. Mole (pronounced mol ay) is a sauce used in Mexican cuisine. Generally it’s red with chilis, spices, and mmmm yum chocolate. Green mole is made with puréed greens or squash, pumpkins seeds, milder chilis, and spices. It was so good that they could have filled a swimming pool with it, tossed me in, and I’d gladly eat my way out.
I haven’t had the green. But you could fill a swimming pool with the cocoa one for me!
That sounds fantastic.
I’m guessing Alice thought the green mole was made from a mammal?
I did wonder if green mole was the mammalian equivalent of red snapper.
Love mole but have gotten hooked on doro wat, which is kind of an Ethiopian version. A dark, spicy rich sauce that takes a day to make so it’s typically for celebrations.
It’s the weekend! And it sounds like most people are having a not-bad day.
When the picture of Oscar opened, my eyes were still bleary from the eyedrops, and I SWEAR I saw things swimming in that frog pond!
It’s a little things day today; pick up something here, drop off something there. Nothing big.
Duckie now “asks” to come out of her cage. She perches on the cage door and squeaks. Most of the time she just sits in the cage entrance and surveys her domain, but yesterday she had the zoomies and went around the room several times. Then she flew back to the cage.
Have a great day, everyone.
Oh that sweet birb. What a personality!
Oscar is a fine lookin feline for sure. But I would also like to see the frog pond! 🐸
I was bitten by a wasp the other day and darn that hurt. ALOT. So I can only imagine what damage a murder hornet could inflict. 🤯
(Just seeing the stories of the discovery of a nest on the west coast. Yikes.)
How’s your recovery going? Eyesight improving when you haven’t just put in eye drops?
Right eye still glasses-free. Can’t wait for the left to be done.
Oscar is gorgeous, though he looks like he just got caught in a naughty action.
I’m having a very quiet weekend with my upstairs kitties, especially Josephine. Planned as many activities as possible to do upstairs, especially on the couch so she can sit next to me. Currently, she’s helping me type. I want to enjoy her as much as I can, in case things don’t go well on Tuesday.
You all have been there with beloved furbabies, so I know you understand the emotional rollercoaster of “maybe she’s doing better!” to “she didn’t eat any breakfast” and “her limp seems worse.” Every moment of hope seems to be followed by a downturn in her appetite, or her pain level, or something else. She’s always been the happiest cat I’ve ever known, for nearly 17 years, and I have to do right by her.
Hugs to you all.
Oh god yes DebG. We’ve been through it. It is terribly difficult. 💕
It’s good that you’re able to spend time with her. If it doesn’t go well on Tuesday, you will have these memories. She is taking comfort from your presence and love,
No matter what happens, we all will be here for you on Tuesday and on any day you can use some extra hugs.
I remember going through this with both my kitties, and with Ricky. You have my sympathetic support. I know you’ll do the very best by Josephine, whatever you decide, and whenever you decide it.
Debg you are a strong woman and wonderful cat Mom. Sending you some strength if any of yours gets depleted.
My husband will finally have his operation to remove the kidney stones that are now in his bladder on Wednesday, so that’s a good thing.
It’s been so hot here this week it feels like I’m in a sauna, I’m really starting to wish for winter to arrive! Right now it’s 91F/33C but feels like 109F/43C because of the humidity!! It’s been like this all week and they say it going to continue like that until next Saturday.
My ancestors were Vikings I’m not genetically equipped for this kind of heat! 🤪
Have a good weekend all, I’m off to take my 4th shower of the day.
Great news about your hubby’s surgery! I’m sure you’ll both be relieved.
And sorry about the heat and humidity. I was so happy to move from Kansas to Colorado because the CO summers feature a dry heat.
Fingers crossed for hubby’s surgery Georgiana. Hope it goes well. 🙏🤞
We’ve had a decidedly extreme and sudden dip into chilly weather from the high heat here! Nice break but its hard to know what to wear from day to day. 😁
Wow, you’re not kidding– I just glanced at the Prairies present weather conditions… late summer brrr-ish. It brings to mind the expression used when I lived in the Maritimes; “Don’t like the weather? Wait five minutes.” Pretty soupy here in Southern Ontario…
