Good morning Hamster!
Glad you’re back, Mike! How are you feeling today?
I’ve been off the last few days. Not done much. Hoping to get some reading done this weekend.
so much cute: https://www.deborahhockingstudio.com/
Loving her work and how many of them include reading. I kept saying oh this one is my favorite and then scrolling down I find another favorite. But this is just so adorable

How are you doing Mike? I hope you’re feeling better.
Last week was dominated here by the extreme heat and humidity and by my husband’s operation Wednesday. After a rough couple of days he is doing fine now and the heat and humidity went away yesterday and we’re back to seasonal temperature.
Glad hubby is doing better.
This weekend’s forecast here is cloudy, rainy, possible thunderstorms in the 70s. Good day for cocoa and a book.
Your good news is very welcome, Georgiana. Hope the good weather continues and especially hope that your hubby heals quickly and completely.
Welcome home, Mike!
Hamster is indeed very photogenic.
So glad your husband’s operation went well, Georgiana! And that your local weather is coöperating in your joint comfort.
Weather forecast here much the same as Allein’s. Saturday is laundry day, as always. I’m hoping the rain won’t be too fierce at walk-time.
Such a stunning looking boi. Glad your somewhat back Mike. Hope the vertigo is diminishing today. I’ve joined Mike in the tilt a whirl room with yet another ear infection which has left me somewhat wobbly on my feet. Have allergies to blame and this year they’ve been off the charts. Thank goodness for antibiotics.
We’re having a last gasp heatwave here in SoCal, today is supposed to be 90 and sunny, sunny, sunny. Next week is also going be high 80s, low 90s. Off on a car club cruise today, up the coast highway and then just relaxing. Tomorrow I’ll run errands and do more relaxing. Feel better Mike and have a great weekend everyone else.
Oh, dear! We do seem to be a dizzy crew. I hope you feel less wobbly soon!
I actually got slightly dizzy when I first got up this morning, but I think I just stood up too fast. My phone was on the dresser and the alarm went off at 6am and I wanted to shut it up. 😴 Was fine two hours later when I actually got up.
Cutetropolitans wobble but hopefully we don’t fall down. Take care of yourself, AJ!
Ha ha DebG! Cute!
Allein is having sympathy dizziness I think!
Glad to hear Georgiana, that hubby is on his way. 👍
And HAMSTER! Wonderful cat model. Can’t get enough of that coat – such a great color!
And of course, best of all, Mike is back! Yay. Hope you are feeling better! 💕
Celebrating Mike’s return with a small donation. 💵
Tx for reminding me. It is definitely a good time to do so. Somehow it has skipped my mind…oh gosh!
Yay!! you are back!! hope you are all better (or almost all better)!! Keep us up to date!
Happy Caturday, Mike! How are you feeling? So happy to have you back, but most importantly I hope you’re feeling a bit better and will be good as new really soon!
Welcome back! It’s a real relief to see that you’re well enough to post something.
Welcome back, Mike! Don’t overdo–your health is the most important thing right now.
Welcome back, Hamster! You’re such a lovely kitkat, and it’s always a joy to see your beautiful self.
Hello, everybody! My complicated plans for running errands got messed up when I arrived at the first stop and discovered I’d left my wallet at home. So now I’m sitting on my couch with senior cat Arabella Figg aka Beano (now my only girl), touching base with y’all. Missed you dreadfully over the past few days.
Staying home today will actually be preferable. The cats and I need to stay connected–we all miss Josephine, and she kinda hogged my attention over the last month. So I’ll spend lots of time snuggling and spoiling everybody.
How is Labor Day weekend happening in just a week? How is it September next week?
It’s unfathomable, isn’t it? And, Christmas stuff will be in the stores before we know it…..
So glad to see Mike posting again, and the beautiful photos of Hamster!
It’s been a crazy few weeks for me- hubby has been having problems with what we though was sciatica, but it’s been going on for almost 3 months now and steadily getting worse, to the point where he’s mostly bedridden. I’ve been trying to take care of him along with working 40+ hrs/week, with varying degrees of success. He finally went to the ER on Wednesday but all they did was give him morphine and sent him home with stronger pain meds than he already had (the new ones didn’t help at all, and made him nauseous, so, back to OTC pain relievers we go). He has an MRI scheduled next week; hopefully they can figure out what might be going on besides sciatica.
I finally got to go to Vancouver last weekend, after two years of not being able to see my friends (and all the places I love to shop and eat)! THAT was quite the adventure- first trying to work out how to get the Covid test done within 72 hrs of entering Canada, when results aren’t coming back for 2-3 (or sometimes 7) days! I’m so lucky to work in a medical office and have a nurse who spent half her lunch hour one day researching the best way to get it done in the right time frame! Then, entering info on a multiple page online application. And when I got to the border, the Nexus (express) lane wasn’t open, so I had to sit in line for 40 min in the regular lanes, but by that point I didn’t even care, lol!
In the middle of all this, I bought a new camera, AND a new laptop, so I’ve been trying to get both set up and figured out. I have someone coming to help me finish setting up the laptop, and good ol’ YouTube is helping with a few things I didn’t know how to do with the camera.
Hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing weekend, and that Mike is feeling better each day!
Oh, and please send thoughts, prayers, positive energy and whatever else you’ve got to my aunt and cousin who live just outside of New Orleans. This will be the first (major) hurricane since they moved there a couple of years ago.
Sue, you should have let me know you were in Canada! We could have done lunch!
I actually thought about that, but I had no idea what time I would be able to get across the border on Saturday, and on Sunday I was scheduled to meet with a friend in Bellingham for lunch. I’m going back next weekend (pending negative Covid test, of course) but I already have plans for both days then, too.
I’ll likely be back up there on the 25th of September, so maybe then we can plan something!
Which crossing would you use? I’m in Abbotsford, at the Sumas crossing.
Peace Arch, but Abbotsford isn’t that far from there. I usually drive all over the lower mainland when I’m up there. 🙂
Sending good thoughts to your family, your hubby, and you. I hope the medical situation gets resolved soon.
FWIW, I had what seemed to be persistent sciatica, which an MRI revealed to be spinal stenosis. That’s no joke, but with the help of physical therapy, I’ve since managed to avoid a return of that awful no-matter-what-you-do-you-can’t-relieve it pain. I hope your husband gets a proper diagnosis soon, and a better solution for pain management than he has received so far.
Sending hopeful thoughts to any and everyone in the path of a hurricane.
Where outside NOLA do they live? We lived there for several years just before Katrina, so I might be able to suggest things to watch out for or prepare for. You get used to storms as long as you prepare properly — which under some circumstances means staying put and in others means getting far, far away!
They’re in Slidell. My cousin is in a house (brick, which might help?) and my aunt is in a ground floor apartment (so I’m worried about flooding…but she might be able to stay with my cousin for the duration).
Keeping fingers crossed for the safety of your relatives and the health of your husband.
So grateful you are ok, Mike.
Good morning, Hamster. And how are you today?
Duckieville is chaotic this week. One third of us is going through things and deciding whether to keep, throw/recycle, or donate. (Can’t beLIEVE how much I’m getting rid of, mostly to donate.) One third of us is grumbling because me cleaning means she can’t come out to play. And one third of us is firmly planted in his chair, watching YouTube videos.
BC is back in masks again, as the Delta variant wreaks havoc in the province.
Stupid election next month. Have decided to vote for NTMTOM.
Duckie has discovered that the bendy ropes I got her are fun. She has mastered the straight line, and is now exploring the spiral that goes to the top of her cage. Once she feels secure, I’m going to attach one rope to my chair and see what she does. I think it might be a bad winter, and playing more with her will be fun.
Off to ruin hubby’s day with more cleaning.
Have a wonderful weekend, all.
Bendy ropes! They sound fantastic! So does clearing out stuff–it’s tough, and it can be really emotional, but it’s a great thing to do.

I’m with you about the stupid election nest month, could have really done without it.
sigh – 😌a new Caturday – all is going to be okay with the world. Wishing for your continued improvement Mr. Mike!
It’s dark and rainy in Philly – which is fine. We need the break. I sat and knitted all day yesterday, (which was nice, but also not good for the ol’ bod.) So with the cooler weather today, I’m going to tackle some tidying, cleaning, painting etc. too. Have a nice weekend all~
Mike is back, hip, hip, hooray! (written quietly while not sniging and dancing in order to not make Mike dizzy, will send this and then do the happy dance and try not to make myself dizzy….)
Beware of dog.
Gah.
I know, scary, right?
Mattie can have several of my heckin fingers.
Hi, all. I’m glad you’re back, Mike, but I echo the advice to take it easy until you’re really better!
And Hamster is a really beautiful kitty! Pet him for me, please!
Yoofi’s autoimmune problem flared up recently, the worst it’s ever been. We’ve tried several vets, who mostly just emptied our bank account, but we’ve finally found a really good one. She immediately took photos of Yoofi’s rapidly balding patches on her face, neck, joints, etc, and sent them to the vet dermatologist — she will handle the treatment the specialist prescribes, but sees no reason to just guess and waste our time and money, which we certainly appreciate. We see the specialist next week. Poor Yoofi is SO itchy, although she’s still a happy goofball. We think she has a condition with the appalling name of “Alabama Rot.” Eek! I hope it’s something else!
We also just switched from expensive cable TV to far less expensive streaming TV, and my poor husband has once again met his nemesis, known as “consumer electronics.” Acter much struggling, he finally just gave up on any help from the streaming company’s people and got a Fire stick, to hand it over to Alexa. We shall see! Ever since we got our first cell phones in about 1990, I have learned that while he can practically make a big computer practically get up and dance a tango, if it’s consumer electronics that is described as “user-friendly,” he is totally driven crazy by it. New phones still take him at least a couple of days to sort out — meaning I have to teach him what to do – and anything else is even worse. It’s actually pretty funny because he should be the best ever at this stuff! But I think he’s going to just hand it all over to Alexa this time and admit complete defeat. 🤣 I approve; it’s much easier to let Alexa be patient with him than try to not lose my mind teaching him!
I hope everyone’s problems, health or otherwise, get resolved soon, and that everyone has a good week. And Yoofi would probably appreciate some good thoughts about her health issues. She’s such a fun dog, we hate to see her looking like she does right now!
Sending little kisses and big kitty purrs to Yoofi. Poor baby.
I have the same problem as your hubby. Give me a computer, and difficult programs, and I’m happy as a clam. Give me something easy, like setting up voicemail on my iPhone, there will be tears and recriminations.
Oh, poor sweet Yoofi! Sending healing, soothing, thoughts your way!
I hope the specialist fins the right treatment for Yoofi.
So glad that you’re feeling up to posting Mike.
Hope that everyone’s having a great weekend, despite the foibles of modern life
omg
Wow. What a wonderful story. Talk about a happy ending.
I love grandpa who set out a picnic for them.
I’m so happy for Iris and Odie! They’re perfect for each other!
Welcome back, Mike!
Best of luck to everyone and their loved ones re: hurricanes and health troubles.
