The Wombat in Winter

While the northern hemisphere bakes in the summer sun, down under in Tazmania it’s been one snowy winter, but it will take more than a flurry to slow down this furry snowplow as it waddles its way through the Central Plateau Conservation Area.

I think the wombat is deliberately going into and through areas with deeper snow. I think it’s having fun

I want to walk there too.

Plus a furry snowplow could handle my driveway and sidewalks so easily!

Every year, on August 2nd, the wombat pokes his head out of his hole to check the weather in Australia. If he doesn’t see his shadow, he doesn’t get scared, but goes off to seek food. If he DOES see his shadow, he still doesn’t care, because wombats. He goes off to seek food, and Australians go about their business, happy to know that one of the funniest animals on earth belongs to them.

      This was so cute!
Duckie’s lil’ tale of wombats has put a smile on my face.

Ahh thank you for sending snow, now I can think cool thoughts. We’re a little on the warm side here in SoCal, upper 80’s and going to be in the 90’s by the weekend. Loving how wombat just keeps on trucking through the snow, looks like fun.

I like how a bit of snow collects on the tail and just stays there. Pretty darned cute!
