    Happy Caturday!

Do something nice for someone you love today.

If anyone can find their mittens, so they can have some pie, it’ll probably be Allein.

Probably should have saved this for Maru’s birthday… 😛

Three times the cuteness there! Can you imagine three kittens running amuck through your house??? Too much fun. A local rescue group posted a pic of three kittens up for adoption and I was this close to running down there and adopting all of them. Say hello to Bella, Skittles, and Olive. And two of them are dilute torties. Squee!!

Then Miss Diva herself has been yelling for her breakfast for the last hour. She needs to figure out everyone likes to have a lie in on the weekend. Off to breakfast with a friend shortly, then a few errands. Later today going to look at a house to possibly buy and dinner is potluck with the car club. Happy weekend y’all!

      Wow they are so beautiful!

      • Dulcie September 11, 2021 / 5:31 pm

        Yes absolutely beautiful!
(I’m beginning to think that trios might be even better than duos!) 😸😸😸

Sad news here, my mother-in-law has been diagnosed with lung cancer, she was a heavy smoker all her life until about 6 years ago so it’s not a total surprise.
At 100 there is not much doctors can do for her, she is just too old and fragile for chemo or an operation. She has been put in palliative care and requires oxygen to help her breathing but at least she is not in any pain at the moment so that a good thing.

    • lindy September 11, 2021 / 11:41 am

Bless her and all of you. 😔🙏🏼

    • dubravkamcvmd September 11, 2021 / 11:42 am

I’m sorry. I hope she remains pain free. And if there’s nothing much they can do for her, they can keep her pain free, I think/hope.

    • AJ September 11, 2021 / 12:02 pm

So sorry to hear but still amazing she made it to 100. May her remaining days be as pain- free as possible.

    • Emsthemonster September 11, 2021 / 3:20 pm

I’m so sorry, Georgiana. Hugs to you.

Sad news indeed. Sorry to hear it. Best wishes to you and all your family during what must be a terribly difficult time.

      {{{hugs}}}😢
(But 100 years is a loooong time for a smoker!)

Not much to report from the Shortcakery, other than that after much deliberation I’ve decided that when circumstances permit I’m going to move from York to Haworth (yes, from one tourist mecca to another!). House prices are cheaper there and I should be able to buy an old terraced property and still be able to put a good chunk of money in the bank.

  5. Duckie 🐥 September 11, 2021 / 12:06 pm

Duckieville is full of mixed emotions today.
My gp, who has decided to retire (selfish creature) told me yesterday that rehoming Duckie would be a good idea. My breathing problems seem to be getting worse. After crying all night, I have decided to keep Duckie and screw the breathing problems. I can’t believe how attached I am to the tiny blue nuisance. That, and the fact that she’s spoiled rotten and no one else would be able to handle her.
My TMJ has decided to act up after THIRTY years, and I have a mouth full of canker sores.
I finally found a place in Canada that sells pure talc. I need it to make my foot soaker fizzies. The owner of the site tried to deter me from using it (ovarian cancer) but I pointed out that the fizzies are for feet, and if someone is foolish enough to park a posterior in a highly mentholated fizzing foot bath, the initial sensation will be enough to change that person’s mind (I hope). In the end, he allowed me to order five pounds. Looking forward to concocting.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Georgiana – so sorry to hear about your mom in law. But what a ripe old age she attained. Still, it makes no difference when it comes to this. Like others have mentioned – hopefully she can be made comfortable. 💕

Duckie this is such a difficult thing! I can’t imagine giving up little Duckie. And the discomfort you are experiencing for other reasons doesn’t help I’m sure. I got a bit of a laugh about your talc story! 😸 All I can say is “you can’t underestimate people”!!

    • Emsthemonster September 11, 2021 / 3:21 pm

As if you could just rehome a family member… 🙁

    • 6rabbits September 11, 2021 / 10:34 pm

I can’t imagine having to have given up one of my babies! My heart goes out to you!

  6. Debg September 11, 2021 / 1:12 pm

Happy day, everybody! Fabulous kittens above (of course, all kittens are fab).

Allein, you do many nice things for us every day, posting the perfect memes.

AJ, don’t resist those lovely fur babies.

Georgiana, so sorry about your MIL. Hope hubby is doing well.

Alice, good luck with your move. Sounds like you’re still in the planning stages?

Duckie, I support your decision to keep your featherbaby. You know what you need.

Sitting in the car dealership for an oil change, listening to mediocre music. Penultimate errand of the day, then I can go home and settle in with kitties, loom, spinning wheel, and knitting needles. I’m weaving a big blanket from my handspun and it’s glorious! Plus I’m planning treats-to-self for my birthday on Tuesday.

More good news: when I asked my boss about WAH two days a week, he told me to make it THREE! My productivity suffers at the office, because ongoing projects and duties require so much focus. He gets that, and he’s just handed me another big project, so I appreciate the extra time at home.

Scorpius seems delighted to have me back in his basement. He’s been lonely. The other day, one of the yard kittens wandered up to a window while he was lying on the sill. He got very excited and they actually started chasing each other back and forth. When my birthday money from my dad arrives, I’ll set up a consultation with a feral cat whisperer about how to reintegrate Scorp with the upstairs kitties. If it’s possible for him to be a full member of the household without hurting other cats, we will all be much happier.

Good god—“The Final Countdown” just started. I’m flashing back to Gob Bluth and his magic shows.

    • Emsthemonster September 11, 2021 / 3:17 pm

WAH is wonderful and I’m glad you can spend more time with the kitties.

Please share the updates about Scorp’s reintegration, maybe I get a good idea or two from it. ( I’m having issues with my 2 beloved ferals)

I started a new job this week, teaching at a fine arts high school in Vienna. It seems like a good fit so far. If anyone is interested in figure skating, one of my students is participating in the Junior Grand Prix next week in Siberia!

I’ve been teaching online at a teacher’s college for the past year. In the past 360 days I’ve received 1 paycheck. Still waiting on payment for the second semester which ended June 31.

    • Debg September 11, 2021 / 2:59 pm

Congrats! And enjoy getting paid again, hopefully on time.

      • Dulcie September 11, 2021 / 5:36 pm

That sounds wonderful N.Fritz….”Me? Oh just got a new job at a fine arts school in Vienna”…
Congrats! 🎉 Hopefully it remains a good fit!
