Brrrr! It’s a chilly Caturday in Cutetropolis, so we’ve lit a cozy fire in the chat room. Of course, the best spot has been taken by Hamster, says sender-inner Tracy R.: “The temperature dipped below 70 degrees today, so the Hamster felt the need to warm his nether regions.”

He must be a California cat, we break out the winter gear at that temperature. He does look cozy, who’s got the hot chocolate? Last weekend, I had the most decadent and rich hot chocolate when I went out for breakfast. Steamed milk, chocolate syrup and not one, not two but SIX full size marshmallows on top. Beyond yummy.
Not much going on this weekend, a few errands and out to pizza with the car club tonight. Had good news that the house we put an offer in has passed inspection, came in at appraisal and now we’re just waiting on a closing date. We should be in around mid-Dec and then I’ll have my own fireplace to lounge in front of. Now comes the fun part – packing! Hope everyone has a good weekend and stays warm.
Ooh the “fun” part you say? Or did I not read the appropriate amount of sarcasm attached to that remark!? ๐ I always hated packing. And unpacking too come to think of it.
Hamster, you got it right. The time of year to warm our, uh, erm… tails! Yes, our tails! ๐ธ
There was a ton of sarcasm attached to the packing comment. I hate it with a passion and consider it a necessary evil. I just wish I had the powers from Bewitched or a transporter beam from Star Trek to move things. My stuff and the stuff in the living area isn’t too bad but hubby’s office and garage are already giving me nightmares. He’s a “collector” and he says he has plan. Which he hasn’t shared with me. Should be interesting.
A man with a plan can be a dangerous thing. Stay tuned for AJ’s next episode…
One of my friends once remarked, “If Dante had known about moving he would have made it one of the levels of Hell.”

Dulcie, I love the idea of warming our tails in front of a cozy fire.
Ooh, can I join? It’s 53 here in New Jersey. I have no fireplace; sitting on the couch with some hot cocoa. (Target’s Good & Gather brand, double chocolate flavor, made with 2% milk; not nearly as good as AJ’s sounds.)
Cartoon nails it.
Iโm all for joining Hamster by a fire. Itโs a soggy day here.
AJ, I fully sympathize with you on your collector husband. If we ever move from here, itโs going to be easy for me to pack, but hubbyโs gonna need a TARDIS. Then again, if we had a TARDIS…
Little Duckie is under the weather. Sheโs all floofed up over her heater and not saying much. She was quiet most of yesterday, and didnโt eat much.
Big Duckie is writhing in agony. One of the lesions broke open during the night, and my pjs stuck to it, and I didnโt realize it. Getting dressed was … not going there.
Going out for brunch, and then might curl up on the couch with pillows and blankets.
Stay safe, everyone.
Oh no Duckie you are sure having to put up with a lot.
Wouldn’t it be nice if all of us Cute peeps could be warming our tails by the fire while Mike sits in the big overstuffed chair with AJ’s hot chocolate, reading cozy animal stories to us??

Yes!
I hope you have good pain meds! Do whatever it takes to stay as comfortable as possible.
I love the picture you make of all of us around the fireplace, with our fur or feather babies in our laps, listening to our favorite story-teller!
Sounds like heaven!!! And Iโll bring the hot chocolate fixings and marshmallows.
And maybe some buttered popcorn?๐ฟ
I’m so sorry, Duckie! That sounds horrid! I hope you got some painkillers.๐
When I lived in Florida, they’d break out the furs if it got under 70. We also knew people who would turn on the A/C so that they could have a fire in their fireplaces.
As they say: What the Florida

Hamster has the right idea. I’m always surprised that my cats don’t hunker down in front of the space heater when it’s on, but they don’t.
Making lots of stuff this weekend, and looking forward to **not** getting a colonoscopy on Monday. In other words, my schedule might be getting back to normal after several weeks of weirdness.
I sympathize with you AJ, packing is the worst but you’ll get a nice new house at the end.
My husband is also “a collector” his motto is “just in case we need it someday” so the garage and basement are full of stuff we haven’t used in years and probably never will.
It was 8C/46F outside today but inside the house it was 20C/68F. I refuse to start the heating until it goes down to around 17C/62F. That’s what sweaters and warm socks are for.
And they say women are the pack rats of the world, just in case … this might be useful … but most women I know are in the if it broke, not useful, not using it then let’s toss it or donate it club. And brrr, I thought it was chilly here at 65. I do agree with you about not turning on the heat until gets below 68. The funny thing is me and hubby have switched on the thermostat range, he was always super warm and I was the one shivering. Now that I’ve hit a certain age, there almost has to be icicles hanging from the lights before I say its cold and he’s the one piling on the flannel shirts and wanting to put the heat on as soon as the temps hit below 70.
It was 48 degrees in my house this weekend and I was COLD. I usually have the heat set at 57 in the winter and am fine. I *refuse* to turn on the heat until November, so I’m gonna be cold this week. What happened to fall?
Woke up to 2ยฐC on Sunday morning. I am heading to the mountains for a week, a vacation I absolutely have earned. This past week has been incredibly stressful and unpleasant, as I learned that 13-14 year olds can be devious, deviant, and downright cruel when people don’t act the way they’re “supposed” to. And that’s when they are under adult supervision! So much for my first school trip as form teacher…
Youโve absolutely earned some time for yourself. Enjoy and unwind.
You’ve definately earned it!
That is unfortunate NFritz. I am saddened by the number of bully children in schools. And that is aside from their “natural” tendencies and on-line access.
