Giving Tuesday 2021

This Thanksgiving, kindness and charity are needed more than ever. So after the stuffing and the spending, Nov. 30 is Giving Tuesday, a day to donate and volunteer to help those with less to be thankful for. As always, Cutetropolitans are invited to share links to worthy charities in the comments, and learn about charities featured in years past.

To determine which charities will spend your donation most effectively, review their rankings on Charity Navigator.

I love that Cutetropolis does this. I’m so grateful for you all, this year and every year.

The Food Bank or St Vincent de Paul Society are our year round recipients.
I make baby quilts for our local Angel Trees, and any extra money we have (!) is used to purchase baby formula for single moms.
A good family friend runs a wildlife rehab center, and she is always on our radar.
And Mike always keeps other needs in everyone’s attention, for which I am grateful.

Thank you, Mike, for your good heart and for always bringing Teh Qte.

I support all of the following (and some others that I haven’t listed). Many of them have four-star ratings, some have three-star ratings, none have less. Metropolitan Maltese Rescue is too small an operation to be rated, but it’s where I adopted Ricky and Bibi from. Some of these are US-only; others are international in scope. For those who want to focus on non-human animals, I particularly commend to your attention Puppies Behind Bars and the Wildlife Conservation Society.

RAINN does good work fighting against and supporting victims of sexual violence.

I’ve bought some stuff from Made For Freedom, working with former trafficked sex workers.

Many of the listed we support. There are too many of us in this world; we donate to Population Connection and PSI – and Charity Navigator, too…

Typically donate to the bats and have volunteered with foster care kids for almost two decades but we’re a Meals on Wheels family.

Family on maternal and paternal side have volunteered and it hurts when you see the waiting list. So often these are the only contacts/family that these people have.

Have to plug the AAPI group too, fighting against the Anti-Asian violence that’s escalated in the last few years. Really, how does punching an elderly Asian woman in the back of the head fight COVID?
