Sorry Butch but must. boop. nose. I’ll try and restrain myself from doing it multiple times. It’s so pink!! And the rest of Butch is just as adorable.
Heading home today after our mini vacation at Disney. But first breakfast at Roscoes which supposedly has the best chicken and waffles. We shall see. Tomorrow will be spent doing errands and getting ready for going back to work on Monday.
Just a very gentle boop …
Such a pinky nose and clean face!
It’s so peenk! And the teeny teefies!
Maybe Butch would like a snack..
Oh, no! No eata da boidies! I haz a sad now.
Oh dear,🤣 in his hunting days Butch was a squirrel catcher – but now that he leads a life of leisure he’s perfectly content to live and let live ❤️
I always giggle at the name Butch because my dad’s family calls him that…and he is so not a “Butch.”
I hesitate between booping the little pink nose and gently kissing it. Do you think Butch would allow a kiss?
P.S. You are wrong spellcheck booping is a word, stop changing to to booking!
It’s a wet Saturday here, and I just want to stay in bed. But my stomach needs sustenance, and my meds are on a schedule, so it’s matter over mind once again.
Maybe Butch will keep my spot warm for me.
Cyber weekend, and several of the stores I regularly deal with are offering bonus points for gift card purchases, so we’re going to get the last of our Christmas presents today.
Foot is looking much better, but it feeling better still has to kick in.
I get to peel and freeze the last of the pomegranates today. The seeds freeze VERY nicely, and I like to pop them in various baked items for a surprise, or just eat them straight for a boost of vitamin C. Our local East Indian stores get them in at outrageously great prices, and I like to stock up.
Yes, I admit it, I’m hoarding pomegranates!
Speaking of hoarding, can someone explain to me why one of the first items to disappear from our store shelves during a panic are Lay’s regular potato chips? Followed closely by Dr. Pepper? Someone bought an entire shipping pallet of Dr. Pepper yesterday, and I’m utter baffled!
Off to wreak havoc on society. I’ll be using this site and its users as my alibi, so if anyone asks, I was with you all day. 😊
Happy wreaking and pomegranate freezing, Duckie!
Not a good week at the Shortcakery, I’m afraid. My Dad had to spend a night in hospital due to breathing difficulties and when I picked him up the next day he was totally confused, thinking that my Mum was still alive and not really grasping who I was. This really puts paid to any hopes I may have had about a single day of respite care in a nursing home so I could have a break, and he wouldn’t consider having anyone come in and sit with him. Also, when we got out of the taxi to walk the short distance to the door he stumbled and fell – fortunately he suffered nothing worse than a grazed knee.
The good news: I made some interesting genealogical discoveries, finally managing to trace the date a family member emigrated to the USA and hearing from an African-American relative.
I’m so sorry about your father. I think you have good reason to hope his confusion will fade. Often the really elderly become disoriented in the hospital but recover after they’re home for a while. It happened with my mother!
Alice, so sorry about your dad. Sending you both all the hugs, kitty purrs, and support you can handle. Take care of yourself through all this.
I’m so sorry to hear about your father, Alice. Don’t give up hope; you can’t continue to take care of your father if you don’t take care of yourself. Perhaps as your father’s breathing becomes better he will be less confused. And I’d also suggest discussing with his doctors whether any of his disorientation could be related to any medications he may be on.
The medication advice is a great idea–my dad was hallucinating from his.
That happened to a relative of mine, too.
Oh Alice, I hope the confusion dissipates when he gets home. And I hope you can find a way to get some respite soon. 💕
I should have made it clear that the confusion DOES disappear fairly quickly when he gets back home, but I couldn’t enjoy myself knowing that he might not understand what’s going on. If I could find somewhere where he could have a room to himself and watch TV or watch his own DVDs it might be doable, otherwise I’ll just have to do without. And unfortunately his breathing problems are caused by a lung that doesn’t inflate properly, for which there is no treatment.
You really are between a rock and a hard place, aren’t you? I’m so very sorry. I will continue to hope that you can get some respite that you can feel safe to enjoy.
Thinking of you Alice. Take care.
If your foot is looking better, the feeling good is on its way!
Duckie, it might be something like the “storm chips” phenomenon. Folks lay in their favorite snack foods to get them through the enforced time indoors.
And on the topic of the pomegranates…do I take it that they are frozen with seeds and all?
Actually, Dulcie, I remove the seeds, wash them, and then freeze them. That way, when I have a craving, they’re available immediately.
And as for the chips, it’s only the regular ones that run out. I would have thought more of the other flavours would be hoarded, like BBQ, or salt’n’vinegar, but no.
Hi Everyone – Butchie will accept your nose boops as long as that is follow up with lots of cuddling. He is an enormous love bug and will tolerate a lot just to get all the skritches and pets, even kisses Georgiana. 🙂
Duckie, I’m glad your foot is feeling better! And I have no answer for why anyone would hoard Lays or Dr. Pepper, especially when there are pomegranates. My childhood home had a pomegranate tree and I had no idea how good we had it. My mother made tons of jelly and so we had peanut butter and pomegranate jelly sandwiches for school. 🤣Have fun wreaking havoc on society – it could probably use it.
I’m about to finally get up out of the chair and go for a bike ride and then finish cleaning the studio and moving it around. Two interesting workshops are scheduled next weekend and I can’t take both. I’ve got to decide which one. One is only Saturday afternoon, the other is all day Saturday and Sunday. That takes a lot of my free time at Christmas time. My niece has requested a unicorn stuffie, still have one of my dad’s size 13 Christmas socks to knit, and my nephew wants a t-rex stuffie. He’ll never use it, so I’m trying to find a hat pattern – he loves hats – and wondering if he’ll take stegosaurus spines instead.
Hope you all have wonderful weekends!
Tara, there’s a tiny T-rex pattern from Anna Hrachovec. Maybe your nephew would like a little one to go with his hat. It’s adorable and takes maybe an hour. She’s also now released a triceratops. Anna also has a unicorn pattern (tiny sized).
Thanks DebG 😊. Great suggestion – I love her patterns!
Butch gets gentle boops from me and I will happily follow up with all the scritchies he wants! What a handsome fellow!
Weird day for me: I spent over an hour at Best Buy trying to pick up a new Apple Watch. It took forever because of my ineptness and because the store–Best Buy, people–was having tech difficulties with its equipment. At least the young woman helping me was very friendly. We bonded while waiting for stuff to happen on my phone and old watch. I love Colorado: people are so friendly. This isn’t the first long and positive interaction I’ve had with salesfolk.
I’m weaving a new set of kitchen towels. For the first time, I need all 10 treadles on my loom! It’s very exciting.
Sending you all good thoughts and long soothing kitty purrs. If you’re enjoying a long weekend (like me), make the most of it. If you’re not, the December holidays will be upon us before we know it.
