I LOVE the beaver. They really are practical and hard-working.

I read that Guardian article on cats, as someone who as lived with cats my whole life I mostly agree with it except that in my experience cats do miss their human. When I go out for a while my cat will greet me at the door when I come back. It’s not the jumping for joy of a dog, it’s more of a quiet greeting.

Whenever I went on vacation, I left my worn-for-a-solid-week pajamas on the floor. My cats were perfectly happy with someone coming in twice a day to feed them, play with them, and clean the litter box, but if I was gone for more than about 10 days, my cat sitter would invariably open the door to find one cat sitting on the pajama tops and the other sitting on the bottoms. So I agree, they do miss their humans; they just have their own ways of showing it.

Yes mine would too. It seems like he didn’t have the same clock as a dog would (being at the door in advance!) but definitely was there rubbing his face on the door frame and making eye contact. Sometimes it was obvious that he had been deeply asleep as he would be blinking and he had bed head!

My cats definitely miss me. Working exclusively from home, then going back to the office 4 days a week, and now going into the office 2 days a week, let me see that even Scorpius the feral missed me.

Love the funny pet photos. Something very sweet about the little chicks discovering their shadows.

Beavers are inherently comical creatures, part of that group that’s like 75% butt and the rest head. Seeing them try to biped only makes them more endearing.

And the person who coined the phrase “BUSY as a beaver” sure knew what they were talking about!
And as a Canuck I like the fact that our animal symbol is industrious AND inherently comical. ๐Ÿ˜

75% butt and 25% head sounds like me!

And because nobody else said it–
      Leave it to beaver!

        I’m 100% butt.

Please please please can I have a baby pygmy hippo? It’ll fit in my house!

    • Andrew December 11, 2021 / 11:43 am

      I still want..

      • Debg December 11, 2021 / 12:45 pm

Me too! I’m willing to compromise with a pygmy hippo.
