Every Christmas season in Dublin, Ireland, a gift-giving tradition like no other lifts the spirits of homeless dogs of Dogs Trust Ireland. One at a time, the dogs run through a room lined with donated toys and choose the one that brings them comfort and joy. It’s called Santa Paws Day, and it assures that even the loneliest dog has something to hold at night.
A very special present from submitterators Deb G. and Andrew Y.

Itβs not that tears came to my eyes. I was crying! Iβm still crying. The dog that rolled around on the floor with his toy! The one who brought the chosen toy to show the human! Iβm still crying.
Awwwwwwwww…this is so heartwarming. All these good doggos getting to pick out their new best friend. π₯Ίβ€οΈ
I just saw this a little while ago (but it didn’t have sound or names so this is better)! I love the little one in the thumbnail (Gizmo) who had trouble deciding between the rubber chicken and the cow. Also the big doggie Janice who chose a tiny stuffy.
What a wonderful thing to do, and such a sweet video to watch! But those onion-cutting Ninjas were out in full force.
Yeah I’m with you guys on the onion cutting thing. So heartwarming but also heartbreaking.
The part that gets me is wondering what draws each dog to its specific choice of toy.
Like the one doggo who couldn’t decide between the two squeaky toys – had to be just the right squeak I guess.
I think he chose the right one. That cow was adorable.
I was wondering if it was a special smell that made the choice for them? Dogs have such excellent noses. Too sweet!
I’m both smiling and crying at the same time.
Please may I upvote this some more? Just watched it again. *sniff, sniff*
So sweet and so heartbreaking at the same time. Bravo to the Trust for helping the doggys out. May all of them find loving homes in the New Year.
And Happy Christmas Eve Eve to everyone!!
I want to know how they prioritize the goggies. Do the hoomins have a nice-to-naughty list like Santa for canines?
I’m glad you all are enjoying this. Had to send to Mike the moment I saw it. Obviously Andrew and I share a brain, or we frequent the same websites besides this one!
