Weekend Open Thread

Happy Caturday, everyone! Welcome to the open thread, where you can talk about whatever you want. We have a new visitor today, courtesy of Megan S., who writes: “I thought you might enjoy the attached photo I recently took of my cat, Teddy, caught mid-yawn while begging for food.”

Looks like he’s saying “Feed me NOW!!” Gorgeous house panther. Going to be busy running errands today – haircut, furniture shopping for the new house, setting up the closet systems, etc etc. Happy weekend everyone!

Teddy is a beauty, I hope we see more of him! Freezing rain/drizzle is in the forecast here for this afternoon (I would rather have 3 feet of snow than a thin layer of ice!) so I am about to go get my errands done now! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Teddy is gorgeous. Maybe he’s trying to catch snowflakes?
    Happy weekend Qte-land!

Crinkle his ears a little and put a little while paint on his chest and he’ll look just like my parents’ temporary charge.

Not much going on here. It snowed a few inches yesterday but is sunny today. I have an eye doctor appointment at 4 and some dishes to do. How does one person use so many utensils?

    Here’s a question to ponder…

Allein, I live alone and when I wash dishes there are maybe a couple of plates, a glass, and 27389194910 forks and spoons!

Poor kitty!!! So hungry he has to meow and yawn at the same time!!
    What a sweetie! ๐Ÿ˜ธ

Teddy looks like he’s screaming and sucking your soul simultaneously, in the cutest way possible.

I’m about to have my cat consultation! I recently set up a Facetime appointment with the Way of Cats lady, who knows a lot about rehabilitating ferals. We’re talking about whether/how/when to try integrating Scorpius with the upstairs cats. It’s good to have access to an expert. Her book is great and her blog is great: https://www.wayofcats.com/blog/

Happy Caturday, everyone! Stay safe in the snow, ice, cold temps, or whatever. I did errarnds yesterday so I’m not stepping a foot outside until Monday.

Teddy’s expression is exactly like the one I adopted in the dentist’s chair on Wednesday, after breaking an upper left molar on Monday night. As if that wasn’t a bad enough start to 2020, on Friday I gashed my hand on a broken glass and got blood all over a brand new white blouse. Things can only improve from now on!

      >As if that wasnโ€™t a bad enough start to 2020

      Especially since it’s 2022!

Hope the hand is okay. I cut my thumb last Wednesday (so a week and a half ago) cutting a caramel apple and it’s still healing.

        2020….2021…..2022….is there a difference?? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yeah Allein and Dana…all the same year to me. โ˜น๏ธ 2020 2021 2022 is the year I became a hermit. Or should I say more of a hermit. ,โ˜น๏ธ

You are not alone, if it makes you feel better.

              • Dulcie January 8, 2022 / 2:45 pm

What do you mean I’m not alone??? I thought I was a hermit?? ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜œ

                  Metaphorically.

But I have to venture out into the world now…

                    Ha ha!! ๐Ÿคฃ

    • Debg January 8, 2022 / 1:39 pm

Maybe youโ€™ve gotten all the bad luck out of the way now? I hope soโ€”both experiences sound awful.

  8. Duckie ๐Ÿฅ January 8, 2022 / 11:52 am

Megan, if I were you, I would feed Teddy ASAP. You might live longer.
Duckieville is cold, wet, white, icy and drippy. Big Duckie has cabin fever. Little Duckie is cuter than ever.
    Have a good weekend, everyone.

Woo hoo! Just cleaned the wound site with alcohol and there was absolutely no pain.

      ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ yay Duckie!

    • Debg January 8, 2022 / 3:56 pm

      Hurrah!

    • Murray C. January 8, 2022 / 4:38 pm

Very good, Duckie – a great sign!

Yes, Teddy looks pretty darned determined and fearsome! Feed now.

And, I, too am at least a partial introvert – I do love parties and other social gatherings when I know people. This pandemic, however, makes me realize that Iโ€™m struggling with keeping in touch , feel more like I want to be left alone.

    • Dubravkamcvmd January 8, 2022 / 6:25 pm

      Hurray!

Here’s something cute from the human world…

Twins born 15 minutes apart in different years! Big brother Alfredo was born about 11:45 on December 31st and little sister Aylin was born at midnight on January 1st.

    And cute humans and animals…

They sent the photo to Queen Elizabeth and got a letter back (from an assistant, but still)! (And today I learned that “lady-in-waiting” is still a thing…)

Yes, saw this a bit ago – so clever! And Yes, Ladies-in-Waiting are, indeed, still part of the courtiers. We went to a gathering given by my husbandโ€™s brother-in-law who is the second son of the Earl of Radnor. It was a big outdoor fete, where one isnโ€™t seated anywhere near your spouse and I sat next to one of Dianaโ€™s Ladies-in-Waiting! (Quite a while ago now.)
