I really feel like I’m living through a dystopian nightmare of late – war, division of countries along idealogical lines, pulling back of hard won rights, etc. I swear if you know who gets elected in 2024, we’ll be living a version of the Handmaid’s Tale. And then to top off all the usual bad news, just found out my BILs, who had to vacate when their apartment complex was hit by a tornando about a month ago, got scammed on their new place. Lost all the money given to the new “landlord”, almost $3K. Now there are no funds to rent another place and rental insurance is only paying for the hotel until tomorrow. Might have to wire some money or pay the hotel bill so they don’t end up on the street. Especially since both are disabled – one with developmental issues and the other physically. Seems like my Tuesday has turned into a Monday. Thanks for letting me vent folks.
I’m so sorry about your BILs. That sucks beyond words. Do they have any way to recover the money, say through a lawsuit?
Maybe. This just happened today so they still need to file a police report and/or get Legal Aid involved. I hope they find the moron, we have a name on the lease but as I told my husband, who knows if that’s even correct.
