Welcome to the second to last Caturday in May! All right, I’ll admit that isn’t a particularly interesting way to kick off this week’s open thread, but I’m at a loss for words because we have kind of a tense situation going on today between Teller and his human Muppet2171, who explains:
I have to go to the pharmacy. Teller decided to lay on my shirt. We have a battle of wills now. I can outlast him… probably.
That is a seriously menacing look from Teller, I’d be very careful if I was you Muppet2171.
I’m getting ready to go to the BeerFest today, it will be my first big event since the mask mandate was lifted last Saturday with mask only required in public transports.
I must say I’m feeling a bit nervous to be around lots a people even tho I had my 4th booster yesterday and I know I’m adequately protected but it will be nice to see friends again and have some good beer and wonderful foods.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Teller does not look impressed. I’m thinking looming over him might irritate him off the shirt.
We’re having a heat wave in NYC this weekend – temps in the 90s. If it never went above 60 I’d be happy. I got new ACs in April. Now I find out if they really work.
I cheated. I said the 2 words guaranteed to make him vanish: mommy kiss! Just the vague possibility that I might kiss his cute widdle head is the absolute worst threat in existence to him. He’s a weirdo. But he’s my weirdo!
He doesn’t like kisses on his widdle head? That’s nuts! Also adorable.
As is his wonky tooth in the pic.
Typical cat – what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine too. Play nice Teller. I like the one toothie sticking out, makes him seem all tough guyish. I’ll be the voice of reason here and say just put on another shirt.
Drove to AZ last night for the car club’s annual meeting since this is where the founder lives. River rafting today, then dinner and election of new officers. Tomorrow we have a car meet up and something called dyno testing. It’s where the car is placed on a machine that spins the tires and runs the engine at a high rate of speed to see how much horsepower is produced by the engine. I know *sarcasm alert* very exciting but car people get very enthusiastic about stuff like that. At least it will be good to hang out with everyone.
Gonna be hot here in AZ, 90s today. Big change from San Diego where yesterday was overcast and 60s. My niece sent me a pic yesterday of the blizzard they were having after it being 90s the day before. Weather is just crazy but I’m starting to think it might be the new norm.
If we could just get a happy average between us! It is unseasonably cold here! 😫
I would gladly send you 10-15 Celsius I don’t need here. (29 Celsius here)
Teller knows how to hang onto what he wants. Until mommy threatens kisses! Not so tough now, are you Teller!???
Like the rest of you, I’m going through weird weather. It was up near 90 on Wednesday, and now we’ve got a freeze alert. They were warning of snow yesterday, though thankfully it was just rainy. I prefer the cold to the heat.
Nothing scheduled this weekend! I’ve got my floor loom and my rigid heddle loom warped up with scarves, and they weave up quickly.
Happy Caturday, all.
Big Duckie and Little Duckie both lurking.
How are the Duckies feeling?
Little Duckie is vexed because feathers keep falling off her without consulting her, and Big Duckie is just plain tired. Funny how prolonged pain can exhaust you.
It actually got to be one of the MOST exhausting things. ☹️
Maybe just order a new shirt online and wait for it to arrive?
Hot and sunny today. Turned on the air last night in preparation (it was only 66 last night but the forecast said it’d be in the 80s by 10am…figured it’d be better to have it on as the temp goes up rather than wait until it got into the 80s in the house and make it work extra to bring it back down).
I’ve just returned from a matinee at my local theatre – a very good production of Pinter’s ‘The Homecoming’. Sadly, a few days ago I had to return my ticket for something I’ve been dying to see since it was announced back in 2019, Opera North’s ‘Parsifal’ in Leeds. I can’t leave my dad alone at home for the 8/9 hours it would take to get there and back. Perhaps it’s a good idea to gradually wean myself off theatre-going on a regular basis, because I’ve made up my mind to move to Haworth when circumstances permit and public there isn’t as good as it is in York!d
Haworth must have a lot to be said for it if you’re willing to give up some theater going to move there.
Indeed. As a theatre practitioner, I regret the potential loss of you as a regular patron of our art. But of course you must do what’s best for you.
I don’t know much about Haworth. What does it offer besides Brontë-based tourism?
River rafting, AJ? I didn’t know Mustangs could float!
It’s an American tradition.
Back in the days before the state and national lines were formalized, ranchers would annually round up their muscle cars and drive them down to the river to wash them and to see if they float.
🤣
You two!!! This gave me the biggest snort laugh at the imagery of trying to wrangle unruly mustang cars and get them dogies to the river. And tubing on the river was a bust so went for a drive out to a “lake” or part of the river I never knew was out here. Imagine driving about 20 minutes outside of Yuma through desert and suddenly there’s water and a boat marina.
