Love the random dogs photos and the kitty stories but the dog using a bat to hit a ball blew my mind!!

Sometimes I wonder where we’d be as a species if we’d tried just a bit harder to teach dogs how to do algebra or write legislation.

      • Dana May 24, 2022 / 12:18 pm

LOL. I’m sure dogs would be much better than us humans at writing legislation among other things.

Well, peeps, my number was finally called and I’ve got covid. I guess I’m one of the rare ones who made it this far without getting it. I’m vaxed and boosted so hopefully my symptoms will not get worse but I feel pretty crappy. Got some good meds from the Doc so I’m sure that’ll help. Ugh.

          Good luck!

Please keep us posted on how you’re doing. We care.

        • Emsthemonster May 24, 2022 / 1:15 pm

I hope you get better soon!

        • AJ May 24, 2022 / 3:52 pm

So sorry to hear that you got this, feel better soon.

        • Dulcie May 24, 2022 / 7:07 pm

Oh no! Hopefully the vaccine will do it’s thing – for the most part it certainly is. But good luck anyway!! 🤞

        • Debg May 24, 2022 / 10:13 pm

So sorry, Dana. Hope you’re feeling better very soon.

        • Murray C. May 24, 2022 / 10:40 pm

Oh, no! Feel better soon! I haven’t had it but I had best get my second booster – I keep forgetting to do it. I have a friend who got it and had about 4-5 days of mild flu symptoms but she did have a month of fatigue. Hopefully you’ll skip that bit.

The cat racer who leaps over a stream and the dog who can hit a baseball with a bat! These are eye-popping athletic abilities.

    • Debg May 24, 2022 / 10:14 pm

I’m crazy in love with racer kitty. She’s got the best life and the greatest dad.

I saw Speed Racer kitty last night!

    Baseball doggo is impressive.

I spotted a doggo at the mall the other day. Little curly-haired poodly floof.

    Rant alert:
I’m being referred to a hospital an hour away from me for a heart/neck MRI, because the hospital here doesn’t have the equipment needed for this particular test. That’s fine (grumble), except a private clinic here has the equipment, so I’m looking into getting it done privately, if that can happen much earlier. They’re looking for sarcoidosis on my heart and on the vessels in the neck. It’s going to cost about $1500, so we’re gathering our funds.
I found out that my RDSP is no longer being funded by the government, because I’m 50, and there isn’t much in it anyway, so I’m trying to cash that out. There’s just enough in it to pay for the scan. I sent in the required letter, and today I got a call from my representative, informing me that, since I signed a contract to leave the money in that account for a minimum of ten years, I may be denied access to it. I informed her that A) I need that money for a medical procedure, and B) I may not be around by the time the stupid thing is accessible. She paused, and then said that, because of regulations, I may have to end up leaving that fund to my husband!
She’s very sorry, and she’s going to look into it for me, but not to get my hopes up.
I’m absolutely furious, so angry I’m crying. No, the procedure isn’t meant to save my life, but earlier knowledge of my condition could allow earlier treatment that could either extend things for a bit, or at least allow me to be more comfortable.
It’s funny, but all I can think of is a conversation we all had a few years ago on this site, about how important a single person is, and that it’s not their money that defines their value. My government just shot that down.

Duckie, I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I can help (not with the government admin runaround, but in other ways). Maybe Mike can share my email id with you? I hate to think of the anguish this is causing you, at a time when this is the last thing you need. We are a community here, even if some of us don’t say much….

      • Dulcie May 24, 2022 / 7:12 pm

I’m on the same page as J.
Let’s see if we can help. 💕

      • Duckie 🐥 May 24, 2022 / 7:22 pm

J, thank you so much for the implied offer, but we will make do. Family will help if we need it. It’s just the arrogance of a blind institution running my life, not for my benefit, or for the general population, but for its own. And I bet politicians have no problems accessing THEIR funds.

        • Dulcie May 24, 2022 / 8:06 pm

They don’t usually have to scramble for funds.
Duckie, let us know how this unfolds.
          🤞💕

        • J May 25, 2022 / 8:38 am

Duckie: I understand completely. Please know that my offer will stand. Anytime. I need you to know that you have more “family” than just your immediate one. Do what you need to do. And take care of yourself.

We are in the middle of a provincial election and I’m getting so tired of learning, once again, that there seems to be one rule for “elected public servants” (said with a great deal of sarcasm) and one rule for us little people.

          Stay positive.

      • Murray C. May 24, 2022 / 10:43 pm

Duckie, you’ve had to deal with so many different blows, I’m so sorry about this latest one. Government is so frustratingly impersonal . Keep us posted and if you do need some help you know we’re here.

    • AJ May 24, 2022 / 2:36 pm

Urggghhhhh. I’m frustrated and furious for you Duckie. I had my own run-in early this morning with bureaucracy and bureaucracy really, really, REALLY sucks. At least here in the States, even if you’re not technically permitted to take early withdrawals on retirement funds, they usually make exceptions for medical expenses, buying a first home, or paying for college. Hope someone sees the light and you can get the money.

    • Dubravkamcvmd May 24, 2022 / 2:53 pm

I looked up RDSP and sarcoidosis. I’m sorry the legal technicalities of your RDSP are causing you to suffer more emotionally over your sarcoidosis. I very much hope your condition can be treated and controlled. Please let us know what’s going on.

    • Sedro6 May 24, 2022 / 4:52 pm

Nothing I can say will change anything but sending kitty purs your way along with some quality snorgles.

    • 6rabbits May 24, 2022 / 9:34 pm

I am so sorry, Duckie! {{{hugs}}} My bunny is sending you licks and snuggles.🐰

    • Debg May 24, 2022 / 10:17 pm

So sorry, Duckie. I hope the govt rep can help. Sending you all the purrs of all my kitties.

  5. AJ May 24, 2022 / 2:58 pm

Running cat and batter up dog have way more athletic skills than I’ll ever have. I think that cat must be a Norwegian Forest Cat looking at how fluffy it is and how much it enjoys the outdoors. Iluna and her kittens are just soooo sweet, glad that they’re now all going to enjoy being fat, spoiled, and pampered housecats. Dog encounters are always fun. Saw 2 huskies/malamutes on the trolley last week and also got to love on a pittie. Definitely need more dogs out and about. Even if you don’t get a chance to pet them, they really brighten up your day.
