Man I kinda wish I lived where cockatoos come to visit! I just have your average backyard birds, chipmunks and squirrels.
I suspect BoingBoing is not *entirely* to be trusted: “According to the BBC, the emu lived at the nearby Malmesbury Animal Sanctuary, and is now the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.”
I was just raising awareness of Boing Boing’s scoop in my own comment when I saw you broke the welcome news .
The best part is that the chef’s hotel will be reducing food waste by sending veggie peelings to the animal sanctuary every day. The emu may not be prime minister, but he negotiated a great deal!
I am all in favour of that emu becoming Prime Minister – far more credible than the gallery of grotesques standing for office, plus it has neater hair than Boris Johnson.
I wasn’t going to say that, but…
I will kinda miss that hair…
There’s a good (well, I think so) article in The Atlantic re the current candidates for UK prime minster if anyone is interested. I do, however, want to respect Cutetropolis as a forum for Teh Qte, so I will keep my personal political commentary to myself. Read it or don’t, it’s all okay by me. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/07/rishi-sunak-liz-truss-debate-uk-prime-minister/670951/
Another crazy-busy day for me, so I can’t read linkies now. But the photos alone made me squee, then Mike’s hovers made me howl, and the trust fall made me weak at the knees.
How prepared are you for the move?? I remember the last week or so before moving was always just crazy, no matter how much I planned, things always got away from me and I ended up doing the toss everything in a box and sort it out later.
I still have some of those boxes, unsorted. I’ve been here almost 10 years…
Hallelujah! I’m not the only one …
I’m feeling really good about packing. Left work early today (we had a big party) and have tomorrow off, so my last weekend before the move will be a long one. I can take more time off if necessary, but I think I won’t need it! Better to take time off after, so I can clean up this house and get it on the market, and so I can unpack at the new place.
I still have a box or two that never got unpacked from 7.5 years ago, when I moved here.
I hate trust falls but I would trust that teddy bear.
Peyton and Hart are too cute.
How did doggo come to perform that little stunt? So sweet.
Wow! A daily visit from a flock of cockatoos! Gives you a reason to get out of bed. Thanks
The links far exceeded my expectations. I’m now dying to open a cockatoo cafe, except they’re not native to Colorado. Stevie the pangolin curled himself around my heart. Baby tigers and bonded kittens make me so happy. So does an emu who catches a drunk driver and becomes PM.
