I’m in love with Hubby the tomcat, he looks just like Kitty-Kat the cat we adopted when my husband and I first moved in together in 1978.

I don’t want to be a downer. I really don’t. There is enough bad news everywhere. And the video of that delightful young lady in Lebanon was just wonderful. But effective today, Canada (joining the USA, where the restriction was implemented in June this year) will no longer allow the importation of dogs for rescue from a number of countries. Lebanon is included in this list. I hope this means that these dog rescues will shift their focus from exporting dogs to working within these countries to reduce unwanted dogs from being conceived. There has to be a better solution to the problem of stray, unwanted, and (sadly) abused dogs everywhere. Luna is right — every dog deserves to live a happy life.

You’re not being a downer–this is good info. I imagine it’s also prohibitively expensive to move dogs to a new country, but not nearly so expensive to offer low-cost spay and neuter programs, along with education.

I’ve always wondered why people bring dogs (and cats?) to Canada or the USA. I had thought that some of the countries the animals come from had rescue groups in place.
I am thankful that people do look out for the animals, but I also agree that it sounds like setting up spay/neuter programs might be a good option.
Thank you for this information. Not that I plan to import any animals (no pets allowed in my building!), but I’ll take a look at that notification to see what it says.

Thank goodness for the comedy pics as it was getting dusty in here after the posts on the dog rescue group in Lebanon and Chubby Hubby. Flutterbyes is a good name for those winged flowers and puppers is so gentle with them.
