Yay! My foster baby made it! Thanks Mike! 😁 His name is now Miles and he has a wonderful home with 4 other cats. Hopefully they will be able to show this baby the intricacies of cathood.
It has been super cold in northern Indiana folks🥶. I don’t remember it being this cold in a loooooong time. In the last decade summer has lasted into October with maybe 2 weeks of 60 degrees before winter starts! This is highly unusual. It’s been down in the 30s at night and 40s during the day! I have refused to turn on the heat until November and my house is COLD. And I LIKE the cold! It is supposed to be up to
70—heat wave!—this weekend, tho. This weather is just so WEIRD!🌬⛈☔️
Hey, Mike…is Flurnston Boils going to show up this Hallowe’en?🤨 Was just reading a couple of his doozies and wondered.
I grew up in northern Indiana and sometimes we’d get a snow flurry around Halloween. My best friend still lives there and loves the snows, the deeper the better – yes, I know she is unusual. Glad Miles found a good home with other cats that can guide him in how to get hoomins to be at his beck and call.
It’s been in the 30s in the morning the past few days but up into the 60s later in the day (it’s 63 now at 12:30pm).
Miles is such a sweet fuzzball! What a face.
Such a pretty kitty!
Peeps, the workers at the Dodo have been getting a raw deal from Vox Media. You can help them out by taking action here:
https://actionnetwork.org/letters/support-a-fair-contract-for-the-dodo
If that’s not your thing, please just let it pass. I don’t want to start a brouhaha in our happy haven.
Done! How horrible! Thank you for letting us know!👍🏼
Done too. I hope they can avoid a strike.
Done! R and B’s mom.
Done!
I’m glad so many of you felt you could support the Dodo workers. Thanks!
Aww, what a sweet face!!
Just taking it easy this weekend. I have an ear infection and if I tilt my head the wrong way the room spins, so that’s fun.
Sea dogs (and skinny dipping! 😮)
So lovely to see the girls in their bathing suits!
We had a lab mix when I was growing up. He didn’t love to swim, but he would do it when he got worried about us in the lake. Smokey would slowly circle all around us to make sure we were okay, then he’d dog paddle back to shore. I still miss you, baby, after all these years.
** clutching pearls at the sight of ocean skinny dipping. **
What a little cutie pie! Kudos to you 6Rabbits for fostering, I don’t think I could foster because I really don’t think I could let them go.
Something weird happened yesterday with Storm my black cat, she’s always looking out of the house windows, she’ll go from one to the other to check what’s happening outside.
So yesterday afternoon she was sitting in front of the closed patio door and all of a sudden bolted away full speed and ended up cowering in the hallway absolutely terrified, her ears were flat and here eyes wide and it took a few minutes before we could even approach her.
She went back to normal after a while but I have no idea what she could have seen to scare her so much, we have no wild life in the backyard except squirrels and birds and sometimes skunks but those come only at night and they never climb up on the balcony.
So what did she see in my backyard in broad daylight that was so scary? 👀
A hawk carrying a vacuum cleaner?
🤣😂🤣
Maybe it was a ghost…
^ I wouldn’t mind that kind of ghost! 😀
Lahara once came running in from outside, growling, and sprinted up the stairs into our bedroom (her “safe” spot). I went out and heard something crashing through the woods, past one side of the house and towards the road. It was a huge bull elk! She’d been around deer for years at that point and wasn’t bothered by them at all, so even though she couldn’t see the elk she knew it was bigger than the deer. I would love to have known her though process. “Hey, I wonder if that’s my deer frien….oooh, nope nope nope!!”
😂😂
Could Storm have heard something? Cats can hear sounds we can’t. She might have seen something too, but maybe it was a noise that startled her.
Glad to hear that she recovered.
Miles is so adorable!
I’m happy that the weather is finally cooling down in my area. My south-facing apartment has single-pane windows so it has been an oven! It’s mid-October! It should be colder by now.
Now maybe I’ll have some energy to deal with my fall cleaning that I keep putting off.
Later.
Off to the fall home show today to wander around for a bit. I don’t have a house and can’t afford to buy, but my friend had an extra ticket, so we’ll check it out. Some of the displays might be interesting. A few years ago they had a tiny house/laneway house on display.
6Rabbits, Miles is a beautiful boy.
Hello to all. It’s been a week of small goods.
FIL has been released from hospital. Apparently he was being cheeky, so they sent him home.
IT RAINED! Finally!
We got levied at the AGM, but it was under $200 for us, so not too bad.
Duckie over her moulting grumpies.
Off to perform mundane Saturday duties. Have a great weekend, everyone.
Congrats on FIL. Cheeky means feeling better!
Miles is glorious. I would never have been able to give him up, but clearly he hit the jackpot twice, first with his wonderful foster mom and now with his forever home.
I’m awaiting guests: friends from work are coming over for brunch, picture-hanging decisions, and a walk around the lake. They just arrived!
What a cute tiny tabby!
It helps knowing that they’re going to good homes I imagine. Still though, you raise these little critters, get past the chewing, gnawing, biting and scratching phase and then pass them off once they start to become real cats with real personalities and not furry stomachs.
I know that I could never foster and suspect that any veteran animal worker would know that looking at me that I’m an automatic fail.
Mike – I haven’t been able to post all day. I’ve tried Firefox and Safari plus cleared my cache. I come up with this weird error message:
Not Acceptable!
An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.
Edit – Of course, it finally works now!
This was the comment I’ve been trying to post since 6 am :
Such a cutie. More toes equal more toebeans to nibble. Thor is unusual as his back paws have what’s called double dewclaws. Never seen it before or knew dogs could have them. Thanks Holly for fostering. Fostering and failing isn’t too hard when you think of it as you are teaching them good cat/dog manners to set them up to succeed in a forever home and letting them be adopted gives you the space and time to help another animal. Rinse and repeat.
Sorry Allein about the ear infection, hope you feel better soon. I’ve had way too many of them and they can be miserable. That is kinda weird Georgiana about Storm. Like other people mentioned, maybe she (and only she) heard something that startled her.
Working on home projects this weekend. Already reorganized the kitchen, and tomorrow I’ll mask off the dining room and fingers crossed, finish painting it. Then just the usual errands and if it doesn’t rain take the 4 legged ones on a long adventure walk at one of the parks tomorrow. Poor babies have had shorter walks this week as our neighbor’s GSD has been running loose and he’s so quiet I never know when he might sneak up on us. Happy weekend everyone!!
So in my Facebook memories today (actually yesterday, but it’s showing me the same ones today for some reason), there was a post where I linked to a Cute Overload post. I clicked just for the heck of it and apparently “not existing” violates their standards, because I got this message:
