He looks so proud of his holiday look (as he should be).

(That flame looks like it’s making a rude gesture, though…)

That’s so weird about the flame. 🤔

And doggo, maybe avoid the office party. Just saying.

Yeah, those parties are really never worth it in retrospect. And at this point in my life, not worth it in prospect!

    Squee!

You sure look festive little pup and don’t worry I don’t know what wassailing is either.

  4. Muppet2171 December 16, 2022 / 5:24 pm

At the risk of going full-on nerd, I looked it up. Per Merriam-Webster, Wassailing is:

    1. an early English toast to someone’s health

2: a hot drink that is made with wine, beer, or cider, spices, sugar, and usually baked apples and is traditionally served in a large bowl especially at Christmastime

I don’t think pupper is old enough to go wassailing. But he’s definitely cute enough!

“Here We Come a-Caroling” the Christmas song, is actually “a-wassailing”. The carol change is apparently an americanism.

      • Ricky & Bibi's Mom December 16, 2022 / 7:59 pm

I’ve never heard it as anything other than “A-Wassailing.” And I’m a USAian. Huh.

        • 6rabbits December 16, 2022 / 11:57 pm

Being in a choir for years I’d heard both ways. Was told the difference was cos people rarely knew what wassail was. Could be the replacement only occurred in some parts of the country, which is a USA thing.

I think I knew it because it was on one of my parents’ Christmas albums (and in those days that meant LPs). Hark Ye Shepherds, by The Deller Consort, which I love to this day. Here’s another waissail song I’m familiar with.

Wassail, wassail, all over the town,
Our toast it is white and our ale it is brown.
Our bowl it is made of the green maple tree,
With a wassail bowl we’ll drink unto thee.

Medieval Europeans generally drank beer at every meal because the water wasn’t potable. It was weak beer, so even kids drank it.

Such a cutie and so proud of his scarf. You can come join me in all my Christmas activities.

How proud he looks and rather adorable! I request cuddles💙

We had a dog at our office party yesterday–it made a nice touch. Puppers looks very snazzy.

Handsome puppers and if you want to throw some sympathy in my direction, please do, as I must, kinda appreciate one or two office parties but for f sakes, I’ve got my fourth on Monday and for shits sake, I am done. *yes, I know I sound like a jerk, but come onnnn, painful and I am doing my best face*

    • Alice Shortcake December 17, 2022 / 4:50 am

You have my sympathy – I’d rather be trampled by reindeer than attend a works Christmas party. The older I get the less inclined I am to tolerate noise, crowds and compulsory jollity.

We had our department party on Thursday. I was only able to stay for half an hour. Was never so glad to have a doctor appointment…. Just wasn’t in a party kinda mood.

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom December 17, 2022 / 8:14 am

      Forced jollity is a scourge.
