When faced with a threat, the venomous pufferchicken (gallus humongous) will inflate its body three times in size to startle predators.
That’s one angry bird, Andrew Y. (see a cool artist rendering on Twitter.)

I’m sorry I don’t really know a lot about chickens but that doesn’t look right to me. Is that chicken alright?
I think it’s ok. Duckie does that sometimes, when she’s cold or irritated.
I’ve heard that they fluff up their feathers to insulate themselves.
Although suspect a bicycle pump may have been invovled in this case.
I’ve played soccer with this chicken before. I mean, the chicken was the ball.
Also bwahahahahaha
I was gonna say that’s a feathered beach ball…
The cockatrice is native to Ivalice. They travel about by rolling.
I think the “foomp” was the sound of the valve being released.
All I can picture is in Shrek the movie when Fiona starts singing and the bird joins in. When Fiona hits a high one, well let’s say it didn’t end well for the bird. Last scene was just feathers floating. I’m hoping that’s feather fluffing and not because chicken has eaten more than it’s fair share.
Thank you for posting this from Cute Overload, aka the old ranch. I actually sang it over the holidays for my mom and bf!
So many happy memories.
