Welcome to the Caturday open thread, Cutetropolitans! Joining us this morning is Hamster, snagging the best spot by the fireplace after his annual vet visit, says sender-inner Tracy R., who adds “The drama is high with this one.”

What a hammy little Hamster! And what a lovely fire. Looks so cozy!
Hamster has a very pretty belly, does he like belly rubs? My girls Skye and Storm love belly rubs, Minnie not so much.
My husband just left to get his annual scan for his cancer, it’s been 5 years now since they removed the tumor so I think that means he’s officially cured since there is no sign of cancer, we’ll know for sure when he sees his doctor in March.
We are cat sitting for my SIL who is on vacation, we go spend at least an hour there each day so the cats have a presence in the house. Toby the big male, comes greet us at the door when we arrive, he loves getting pets and jumps on us when we sit but the female Molly has stayed hidden for now, but then she’s always been shy.
Other that than it’s been a quiet week here, we didn’t get the big storm they predicted. We ended up with just a dusting of snow but got really cold temperature – 24C/-11F.
Hope everyone as a good weekend.
thinking good thoughts for hubby and the results next month!
Such a snorgable belly. And I feel ya Hammy, I’m not a huge fan of doctors either. Could use the fire here today, major wind and rain storm going on here today. Already, at certain times, it’s been like someone has been throwing buckets of water at the windows. And I have errands to run today including a haircut. Thank goodness for boots, raincoats and umbrellas.
I’d love to be in front of that fire with that beautiful belleh to snorgle..
Good Morning – tested positive for the covid on Tuesday. Feeling better today. I think I had a rather mild case. Just like a cold except for added anxiety. One starts over thinking every twinge. The cats were very happy to have me home and I was actually able to get a grueling work task done. Reading fellowship applications is so much more fun curled up on the couch with cats, tea, and blankets, than at a desk with constant interruptions. Silver linings.
So glad it’s been a mild case.
Oh, how I envy Hamster. Yesterday morning the electric flame-effect fire in my living room upped and died, and I suspect that it will be more expensive to have it repaired than to simply replace it.
Good news about the upgrading of the Shortcakery: this time next week all the new flooring will be in place and I’ll be able to fill the living room bookcases with the volumes currently languishing in stacks of cardboard boxes. I’ve also managed to find a plumber to do some work in the bathroom. The bad news: all this decorating has made the front bedroom look horribly shabby, so I’ve decided to paint that as well!
Last Tuesday I travelled to Leeds by train to see an excellent production of Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos”, but thanks to misreading the running time when I bought the train tickets I ended up with a 1 1/2 hour wait for the train home. Rather than hang around for all that time I decided to risk getting the first available train (a mere 14 minute wait) and hope that no-one would be checking tickets late at night. Then I looked at the ticket and realised that I’d used the return half for the outward journey – the conductor didn’t notice! – giving me an excellent excuse to leap on the earlier train. As it turned out the tickets weren’t checked anyway, allowing me to be tucked up in bed in York when the correct train was pulling out of Leeds..
Everything is going so well!
Well, that was good luck!☺️
My electric fire has risen from the dead! I have no idea what happened there…
Your glockenspiel is working again! (sorry, obligatory Frasier reference had to be made)
Happy Caturday…a cat and a fireplace would be nice today. It’s another work-on-Sunday week for me, so that’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow. Woke up this morning at 4:10 for some reason, fell back asleep a few hours later, slept until after 10, and now I feel like crap. Hoping to get a few chores done today. Need to go to my parents’ and pick up some mail that went to their house for some reason, apparently from CentraState (hospital system) about a data breach and an offer of free credit monitoring. Meanwhile, I got something from them the other day, addressed to someone who is not me, and when I googled I discovered it’s the person who sold my place to the person who sold it to me. I have been here since 2011 and I think the previous owner said she was here for about 10 years so…. I wonder if it was the same thing. I wonder when their record of my address is from…last time I was actually treated at the hospital was after my car accident in 2002, but I have multiple doctors (primary and a couple others) who are also part of their system. Weird.
Also need to do taxes but I don’t know if I’ll get all that together today. Thankfully my taxes are not particularly complicated.
Anyway, here’s a dog who has something to say. Not sure what it is, though.
PS, he’s from Special Needs Animal Rescue League, or SNARL.
🙂
And his hind legs don’t work! The silent batk squeezed my heart. I’m so glad he’s safe.
I know! He has a little diaper. And it looks like he doesn’t have any teeth, either. I looked through some of the comments on IG and the rescue said, in response to someone asking if they’re looking for an adopter, that he’s on hospice with them. Poor baby.
Oh, not good news but hope that he’s being coddled and loved where he is.

Breaking News!
WeRateDogs has a new feature!
This was awesome! I loved Myth Busters! I do hope they make that into a series.
Thank you for posting it!☺️
They made a playlist for it, so I’m hoping that means there will be more.
Greetings, all.
It is a freezing cold morning in Duckieville. We’re apparently expecting lots of snow, after a week of arctic outflow winds. Everything I’ve got hurts, and a couple of things I ain’t got hurt.
Hamster, I think we’re holding our weekly Cutetropolis meeting with you. It definitely looks much nicer there.
Duckie’s feathers are growing in nicely.
Family’s doing ok. Dad grumbling about driving restriction.
I’ve decided that I’ve had it with hubby’s hoarding mess, so, as soon as our tax refund is in, I’m going to purchase several large storage bins and put everything in them. He’ll still have his stuff, and I won’t be freaking over the mess. I wonder if I can get one big enough for him…
FIL’s seniors’ home is in isolation with norovirus still. Legal stuff for us to take control of his care and finances are almost done. Then we can make him more comfortable.
Still coping with aggressive wave of depression after two weeks. I’m having a hard time dealing with this one, as reality keeps rearing its ugly head.
Giving myself permission to have a lazy day.
Pray for Ukraine.
I hear you Duckie. It’s like being under a weighted blanket except they used concrete to fill it.
Ukraine. You know, I can’t even.
Nice to see you again, Dulcie. We missed you!
Hi Ems!
its not laziness, it’s self-care and recharging the batteries.
You deserve it. We all deserve it.
👍🏼💙
Happy Caturday! I’m late to the party today, after errands and rearranging furniture for a new bookcase that arrives Monday.
So sorry to hear about COVID, depression, working on the weekend, and other worries. Sending you all hugs. And I celebrate impending house makeovers, cancer-free scans, and other good news!
We had sunny weather in the 50s last weekend, then a snowstorm on Wednesday, and now it’s sunny and warm again. This has been our pattern for the past few weeks. I want to try out my new walking shoes but it’s too muddy and slippery with the snow melting.
Sevi, who’s the same age as our darling Maru, had 5 teeth extracted on Thursday. He doesn’t like his pain meds, but I tell him that he’d like the pain far less. He’s recovered well from the anesthesia and hopefully his mouth is healing too–I’m afraid to look at anything but his gums, because there are so many sutures.
Hamster takes the cake for drama. He’s clearly working the ref! Glad he’s so comfy and warm in front of his fire.
He does like belly rubs, to all who were kind enough to ask!
Hopefully Hamster likes his belly snorgled? Cos he’s a major advertisement for receiving it in that position! He looks in pure bliss!
