Do Your Ears Hang Low?

Meet Quincy, a big house rabbit with some of the longest lop ears you’ve ever seen. This lucky boy gets to roam the house and drape those ears wherever he likes.

Needless to say, ears like these require special attention.

Beautiful Quincy. I don’t understand the reason for breeding rabbits to have such long, droopy ears. They have to step on them at times. I liked Quincy’s sassy kick when his mom told him not to chew on some decor item. All of my rabbits enjoyed having their ears gently rubbed. They’d do their version of purring and/ or slightly twitch their nose and lick their lips.

      How does a rabbit purr?

They chutter – quickly tap their back teeth together.

I love Quincy’s top knot tuft.

Such an adorable bun bun. Almost looks like they crossed a rabbit with a bloodhound or basset hound.

I would be stepping on my ears constantly if they were as long as Quincy’s. What a gorgeous bun! Love his sweet face and his relaxed happiness.

Peeps, I finally did it–I installed the roll-out shelves in two kitchen cabinets! They’ve been waiting for months, but removing that stupid half shelf in the wide cabinet seemed impossible with my bum wrist. Now I don’t have to pay someone to do this job!

I want to cuddle with Quincey! 💙
I wonder how one ear got shorter than the other?
With most rabbits you have to listen very closely to hear them chuttering. And some don’t do it very often, or at all!
There has to be a reason they were bred to have such long ears?

This link has the answer, sort of, to long lop ears.

      And this from Wikipedia:
English Lop (1907) Longer (or thicker) ears are more likely to droop. Some lop-eared rabbits have been deliberately bred for exaggerated ear length.[4] As this can be considered detrimental to the rabbit’s health, requirements in Germany “ban rabbits with ears over 25.5 inches (65 cm), and in Holland, 27.5 inches (70 cm) is as long as they can be allowed [in shows] before disqualification.”[2]

I looked for some videos of bunnies chuttering but couldn’t hear it very well.

aaannnd, every time I come to this post the song, the original version of “Do your ears hang low” becomes an ear worm. I am trying to find it but didn’t Picard in the first ng start a round of it? I swear he did.
