Happy Caturday, Cutetropolitans! We have two cats visiting us today. First here’s Jacques from reader Tara O.:
I was going through my weekly photos and saw this. It makes me smile. It cracks me up how Jacques is looking at Hamster. Jacques would never be caught in such an undignified position.
Bonus: Reader GT sent this photo of Lucy, her rescued senior kitty, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, but I already had a post lined up and couldn’t use it until today. Hope Lucy’s recovered from that hangover.
I LIKE that picture of Hamster! Shows all the tummy to snorgle!🐱 Lucy looks like it was a good St. Pat’s! I love the tiny spot on her nose!☺️
Raining like it’s Noah’s Ark time here! Sheesh! Sounds horrible! Glad I live on a small hill.
Have a good day peeps!👍🏼
Lucy is gorgeous but she looks like she may have overindulged. MEE- OW!!!
So I did an at-home sleep apnea test the other night and they sent me home with the kit to wrap myself in (results next week). Poor Teller was soooo confused! There was a very distinct smell to the stuff (not unpleasant, just obvious). He spent the night in bed with me, which he NEVER does.
He couldn’t have been that worried though. He was asleep long before I was.
Happy Caturday! What a pretty house panther! And I love Lucy’s hat!
Have to take my car for a security software update (which will apparently give me a couple hours to read…), and get it checked out because a few weeks ago it didn’t want to start one morning. It was cold but not exactly freezing (around 37F) so it doesn’t seem like that’s the issue; it started after a few tries and seemed fine after that and it hasn’t happened since, so hopefully it was just a one-off thing and not something expensive (I just had it in for a big 30K-mile service in December).
Then I have to go to the pharmacy. Went to the doctor yesterday (called the day before and lucked out because apparently they had a cancellation and an appointment was open at 2pm). I’ve been having issues lately with feeling like something is stuck in my throat and it’s been causing me a lot of anxiety and I haven’t been eating much so that’s not good. She thinks it’s reflux (“silent” apparently, since I don’t get heartburn) and post-nasal drip (which can be caused by reflux) and gave me a prescription for something for the reflux and said to get an allergy medicine (Xyzal) to take once a day; if I’m not doing better in a month I’ll see an ENT to make sure something else isn’t going on (but she doesn’t see anything to suspect that there is…my anxiety brain isn’t convinced but I’ll give the meds a chance first).
Then I need to do some chores but I might take a ride to the new bookstore that replaced the last store I worked at (well, it opened in November but I’ve only been there twice) and stop at the bank and maybe a couple other places around there.
Looks like there is rain coming here; it has gotten darker outside since I sat down on the couch with my cocoa. Hopefully it’s not bad while I’m out and about, though my weather app says 60-70% chance of rain from 11am through the entire afternoon.
Aww, love. kitty and puppers snoozing together, naps are better with a friend. Fingers crossed for a good outcome. Are you sure we’re not related because I’m the same way with health issues, I go from nothings’s wrong to I’m convinced it’s time to put things in order in less than 30 seconds. Just try and stay away from Dr. Google, it seems to make things worse.
Not to worry you further but if they haven’t already checked, have the drs check your heart. I was having similar symptoms (some problems with swallowing, acid reflux) along with mild chest pain. After various testing, including a swallow test to make sure the muscles were working correctly, drs discovered at the age of 58, I had a minor heart birth defect. The chest pain and throat problems were what they call radiating pain. They put me on a low dose calcium channel blocker and I’ve been fine since.
They did an ekg when the neck thing first started and that was fine…she also gave me an order for blood work so I have to look at my schedule to see when I can go get blood drawn.
I have GERD and often get what’s called globus sensate – pretty much what it sounds like, the feeling of a glob in your throat. It comes and goes, nothing to worry about as long as you have no trouble swallowing. So we shall all hope for that as an outcome.❤️
I hope it turns out to just be reflux, I’ve been taking medication for reflux for a long time and it’s been working well but my reflux wasn’t “silent” it was mostly at night and hurt like the dickens.
Allein…I know anxiety brain very well. Really close relationship actually.
I kept having a dry spot in my throat which was sometimes scratchy. Then became what felt like a lump when I swallowed.
Sinuses had been miserable during this time and yes, that post nasal drip was the culprit. Amazing how even a small inflammation in the throat can feel so huge.
Feel better soon! You’ve got all manner of Cute doctors tending to you!
Allein – I would have to agree with your doctor – it sounds like seasonal allergies. Allergy season is REALLY, REALLY bad this year.
One of my employees lost her sense of smell and taste and went to the ER. They did every test (covid, flu, rsv, etc.) and everything came back negative. For 4 days, she couldn’t smell or taste. On Day 5, I told her to try flonase and non-drowsy sudafed. The next day, she could taste and the day after, she could smell.
The feeling in your throat could be mucus that’s just really hard to clear out. The allergy meds should reduce the inflammation in your system that’s causing all the mucus.
The rare and beautiful leprechat!
FINALLY, the unwanted carpet has been taken away and for the first time in almost a month I can close the living room door. The bathroom is being renovated on Monday and the few remaining jobs are not of the “big and messy” variety. Hopefully everything will be finished by the end of April.
I can now look forward to the holidays I’ve had to deny myself for a decade! In May I’m having a short break in Stratford-upon-Avon to see “Cymbeline”, one of my favourite plays (yes, I’m weird). In June I’m returning to Haworth to do a bit of family history research, and in September I’ll be off to the former fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay for a few days. Next near I’m having a two-centre holiday in Glastonbury and Avebury in May, followed in July by a week in Whitby for the annual Folk Festival.
I had to laugh at an email I received yesterday from a genealogy website informing me that I’m related to Elvis Presley. It turns out that a member of the site has identified an ancestor of mine known only as Mary, whose son was born in Yorkshire, as a woman who was born and died in…Kentucky! Unfortunately, nonsense like this isn’t unusual in the world of amateur genealogy, especially amongst people who desperately want to be related to celebrities.
Yeah that the carpet saga is resolved, the house projects are winding down, and you’re off on adventures. The trips sound just marvelous, have a fantastic time. I think if one digs deep enough, we’re all connected in some way. I did the 23 and Me testing, and I’m supposedly related to all these people but I have no clue how. They’re like 3rd cousins 5 times removed and the only common denominator is a great great great great great grandparent’s sister from the 1780s.
Finishing renovations is a huge emotional lift. Enjoy!
Lovely kitties this morning and I feel you both. I’m with Jacques, a lil modesty, Hamster, please! And I refuse to be suckered into belly rubbing or snorgling as there are sharp claws attached. Been there, done that Lucy on St. Paddy’s Day. And did it with full blooded Irishmen who thought drinking was an Olympic level competitive sport.
Busy weekend coming up. After taking doggos on an outing, we’re meeting my former boss and her hubby for lunch today. Tomorrow I’m off to a museum exhibit outing with a new group I joined while hubby is at a car club meeting. I’m finally trying to get out and be more social. So I’m doing the flight of the bumble bee getting the house cleaned up. Decluttering and kitchen done, just need to vacuum. Somewhere amongst all the fun stuff, need to run errands and do laundry too. Have a great weekend everyone and fingers crossed, Spring is springing in your part of the world.
Love Jacques’ look of disdain at the oh-so-relaxed Hamster. Lucy clearly knows how to celebrate properly.
Congrats to everybody dealing with reno/organization stuff! It’s a hassle, but oh so wonderful when it’s done. I *finally* finished my kitchen cabinet rollouts last week–installed them, then wanted to make better use of the space and ordered bigger sizes. Rearranging seemed to take at least 3 tries for each of the 3 rollouts. I kept getting things wrong, like not leaving enough clearance for the door hinge, etc. But it’s done now and my kitchen functions much better.
Sorry to hear about people’s health woes. I’m off to urgent care in 30 minutes for the cold that’s been bringing me down for 2 weeks. Maybe it’s turned into bronchitis or something else. When you can feel a cough hurting your trachea and lungs, it’s time to see professionals. I can continue planning my balcony garden if I have to wait.
Hugs to you all. How is next week the end of March?!?!?!?!
Snorgle time, with that tummy.
Pneumonia meds working. Deb, you might want to get checked for that. That’s how I felt before I got the prescription. Rotten spring cold.
Little Duckie not recovering well from the unexpected egg on Thursday. I’m a little worried about her.
Stay dry, everyone.
Turns out it’s just bronchitis. Hope you’re both feeling better soon.
Jacques is gorgeous and Lucy looks like I did after St-Patrick’s Day only a lot cuter.
Spring started this week but you wouldn’t know it from the weather we got, it’s been cold and grey, we even had snow flurries!
I can’t wait for it to get warm so I can go walk outside something I can’t do in winter since I started using a walker because of my bad back. I try to walk in shopping centers at least once or twice a week but it’s not the same as walking outside.
This week I had a nice surprise when walking in my favorite shopping center, a new restaurant has opened in the food court and it’s a Vietnamese restaurant that sell Banh Mi sandwiches! If you don’t know what a Banh Mi is, it’s a sandwich made with a French baguette, ham or chicken, mayo, pickled vegetables, coriander/cilantro and seasoning and it’s absolutely delicious!!
I hope everyone has as a yummy weekend 😀
Happy Weekend All –
Hello Lucy – you lucky kitty! You deserve to celebrate your new home. You have beautiful eyes, and a gorgeous coat. Sorry about my judgey Jacques everyone. Please forgive him. At 17, he’s just a grumpy old man. 🤣
I went to yoga on my bicycle this morning without looking at the weather forecast. The minute class started the heavens opened up and poured. Thank goodness it had stopped by the time class was done, but the bicycle seat was soaked! I had to wander around Aldi with a soakin’ wet heinie. More boring life stuff to take care of this afternoon – but right now, I’m having a cup of tea, watching an episode of the Mandalorian and knitting a skinny scarf with some long stashed angora.
💖Mandalorian!💕
I know the weekend’s almost over but I hope this makes you smile.
