Welcome to Caturday and the open thread. Looks like we’ve got a photo ping-pong match going, because reader Tracy R. sent this pic of Hamster checking out Jacques checking out Hamster!
For a bonus, reader Elizabeth G. has a funny story:
I went to an academic conference. Spotted this pigeon on the lower level of the convention center. He wandered among the attendees for a good while. In this shot, he’s headed toward a food vendor selling fries. I hope he found his way back to the street level.
🤣❤️🤣❤️🤣❤️ Oh thank you for this, Tracy R! I really needed this this morning. That look on Hamster’s face! Is he saying: “what’s this guy’s problem?” I am actually laughing/crying right now. It was a horrible week here. Dealing with people who don’t know they don’t know how to do something is so hard. Then there are people who know *exactly* what they are doing: lawyers, contractors, and more lawyers, all being obtuse on purpose. Being diplomatic is exhausting! I really needed this laugh.
Heading to yoga shortly, then therapy, and then will make a new plan.
❤️ to everyone!
Hugs, Tara. Sorry about the horrible week. Laughter, yoga, and therapy sound like the right approach.
You’ll get through it and you’ll be wonderful.
Deep breathing and hope your plan includes a large bat.
Welcome to the Matrix everyone. All the cats, real and computer, are gorgeous as usual. Wonder what Hamster’s thinking – hey how’d me & you get in that magic box? Especially since I’m right here. Or maybe it’s the answer to the Schrödinger’s cat question. The pigeon story is pretty funny, the bird might be a pro at sneaking in, snagging a snack, then heading back out.
Sorry for your challenging week Tara. Sometimes at work, after dealing with several idiots in a row (and there were some doozies this week!), I tell myself I should have retired yesterday. Like you I wonder, do they really don’t know and are doing whatever out of sheer ignorance, laziness, or is it deliberate?
Had a three day weekend since CA celebrates the activist Cesar Chavez and as a state employee we get the day off. Did some shopping and started a craft project. And oh yeah, felt the earthquake that hit the area last night while we were out at dinner. Mainly felt like something hit the building or someone slammed a door really hard. Didn’t even know it happened until a friend texted me. More errands today then car car club meetup later. Also try and finish a few house projects too. Welcome to the weekend and hoping Spring has sprung in your part of the world. And that no one pranks you today.
What are you making????
I do *not* miss the earthquakes of California.
I’m re-covering a lampshade to have it match by bedroom decor. I found this gorgeous paper at Joanne’s Fabric – mustard yellow background with a gold and dark teal green design. https://www.joann.com/mustard-turquoise-paper-single-sheets/17261090.html
It even feels like it’s embossed/ flocked.
Pretty!
Happy Caturday! It’s raining and miserable here! I have to work tomorrow! And it’s a short week because we get Good Friday, but the main corporate office does not, so if I don’t get everything done by Thursday I will have to work on the holiday. Yay!
But the kitties are adorable and we need more layers.
I will share this thought of Dog with my cats. They’ll appreciate it.
Hamster is everything, everywhere all at once 😍
I’ve been lurking and haven’t commented a lot this week because I’ve been in pain and that makes me grumpy. I twisted my back and did something to my sciatic nerve trying to catch Minnie to give her her morning pill, it hurt so bad that I could hardly walk for the pain down my left leg. I did a lot of cold compress and anti-inflammatory and I’m doing better now, it still hurt when I get up in the morning but it’s a lot better.
That looks like a very determined pigeon. The office where I used to work was in a big building that had 4 office towers over a central part that was a shopping center with restaurants and there was birds in there all the time, not usually pigeons though more like sparrows, they even built nests in the high ceiling in the Spring you could hear the babies calling for food.
Oh no! We’re sending healing purrs. Hope you’re fully functional soon.
Ouch, that sounds painful, maybe some heating pad at some point too.
We used to have a lot of pigeons at my office building and they even tried to install anti-pigeon pikes.
However, two red hawks residing in the flower boxes on the top level resolved that quickly.
😁
Is it bad that it took me several minutes to get the joke???
Hamster, Jacques, *and* a french-fry pigeon! Excellent! It’s so meta-feline!
Sounds like we’ve all had a bad week. Mine was disastrous, not because of idiots exactly, but because we had a perfect storm of everybody sick, too many major projects going on, major machinery breaking down–all while the company owner wanted everything finished RIGHT NOW. Sometimes it’s challenging to work for a small company, because the owner’s personal quirks can drive everything.
I’m determined to beat this bronchitis. It’s better than last weekend, but still not great because all the work stuff stressed me out and I couldn’t get much rest. Today I can take things easy, interspersing chores with warping a new set of kitchen towels. Right now, Lavender is on my lap staring deeply into my soul, as usual. Last evening, I had a cuddle puddle of Sevi, Scorpius, and Fred on my lap. Imma take care of myself this weekend.
Hugs to you all. So grateful we have each other for support when things are rough.
Ooh I want a cuddle puddle of numerous kitties. You can send them my way. Sounds like just the cure for a rough week.
We Rate Dogs does a weekly top five dogs video on facebook (I haven’t seen it anywhere else); always starts out with “The dogs were good again this week.” This week’s included the dog & goat pair from earlier in the week. 🙂
I want a flying baby Corgi.
Incoming!
That’s it. Shut down the internets. Pancake’s flight is the sweetest thing ever.
Now that is trust! Also I’m ded from the corgi cuteness 😍
Want baby Corgi!
You’ll believe a dog can fly!
The formerly craptastic bathroom at the Shortcakery is in a state of mid-transformation – new bathroom suite of a size more suitable to the diminutive proportions of the room, grey oak effect laminate flooring, and a wall-mounted heater to dispel the arctic cold in winter. The next job will be the addition of glossy white metro tiles and a grey mirrored cupboard. All that’s left now is finding a carpenter to hang new internal doors and a front door, but I was horrified to discover that all three of the ones I’ve contacted so far are fully booked until NOVEMBER at the earliest!!!!!
Alice, that sounds lovely. I remember my own bathroom reno and how much I loved the new look once it was finally over. Can you find a handyman for the doors? They’re pretty easy, all things considered.
I’m waiting to hear back from the handyman I often use for small jobs. The interior doors probably will be easy enough but I’ll almost certainly need a new frame for the front door.
“Hamster checking out Jacques checking out Hamster!”
My brain hurts now.
Normally would save this for Bunday but it feels more appropriate today…
Thats funny. Its like the old joke – dog and spouse missing, reward if you find dog.
Gotta admit I was all huffy and outraged as I read this _before_ actually *watching* it! Turned out way better than expected!☺️
That child looked like he was having so much fun!
We are in a tornado warning. I don’t have a basement. Or a lower floor. It is very dark out and I can hear the wind and rain from inside the bathroom, which is not near a window. Do not like.
It has been *very* windy with tons of rain the last 2 days! Like Noah’s Ark rain! I don’t like how it sounds or looks thru my skylight.😟
I heard a lot of scary noise but I closed the bedroom doors and shut myself in the bathroom so I couldn’t see outside when it really got going. Quiet now but still raining with some thunder. Still under a storm warning and tornado watch until 10.
Yikes! I would be so scared with no basement! Fingers crossed for you!🤞🏽
