In a household with multiple cats, many homeowners make the mistake of feeding their cats from a communal bowl, thinking that it will encourage camaraderie. In fact, cats insist on personal space, and prefer separate bowls as shown in figure 1 below.

With the bowls spaced apart, cats are able to enjoy a meal without unpleasant crowding, so that… that mealtimes may… be harmonious and… Oh, never mind.

Stealing my own comment from the original:
A gorge-ian knot.

Good one (again) Allein!
This is so very cat like.
so VERY catlike
And good one again, Allein!
One of my favorites! And yes, so cat like. No matter how hard we try to maintain order, animals just do what they want when they want.
One wonders what goes through their wee brains. Cat problems require cat solutions, evidently.
My cats are convinced that the food is always better in the other one’s bowl even if it came out of the same can.
It’s a cat thing.
Cats would be great at Twister, if you could get them to follow the orders from the spinner wheel.
I needed this laugh. Food poisoning on Tuesday. My system felt like picture two.
Oh, Duckie! How miserable. Hope your insides get resolved soon.
That sucks, hope you feel better soon.
recommend sleep and tea/toast.
I bet that they change bowls every two minutes anyway.
Like Twister with kibble
I fed Wacket and Minkette the same thing in bowls a few inches apart. They would both go at it, Wacket would notice Minketteโs intensity and push her out of the way to eat the same food as his, in her bowl. Minkette, unfazed, would immediately start eating that same food in his bowl.
