Welcome to the weekend, and we hope it’s a relaxing one wherever you are. And here to inspire you are the relaxation champs, from sender-inner Squiddy:
Caught my boys snuggling while I was working. How am I supposed to pay attention to my Zoom calls when this is going on right under my nose?
I love it when cats snuggle and these two look like they are very good at it.
I had an eventful couple of days to say the least! Thursday was my birthday and we had a tornado alert! Tornadoes are really not common here in Montreal, we got a lot of rain and wind and lost electricity for a good part of the evening but compared to other parts of the city we were very lucky, nothing fell on the house and we had no water damage.
Then on Friday we woke up to find that we had no internet or phone service at the house but since we had planed to go to a Street food festival at the Old Port so I didn’t care.
We had lots of fun but unfortunately coming back I didn’t see a hole in the pavement and my walker’s wheels got caught and I fell head first jamming my legs in the walker. Again I was lucky and didn’t break anything I just ache this morning and got bruises on my legs.
I will remain safely home today sitting on my couch so nothing else can happen to me!! LOL!! Have a good and safe weekend all.
Georgiana, I feel for you – poorly maintained pavements have taken me unaware several times over the years! I also had a tragicomic experience last week. I’d been feeling a bit sick and dizzy all day, to the extent of not daring to stray too far from the bathroom. I perched on the edge of the bath, fainted, and came to in a semi-foetal position stuck between the taps and the shower seat, legs dangling over the edge. Even at the time I couldn’t help thinking that the whole thing must have looked like comedy gold to an observer!
On a meteorological note, England is enjoying a wet, windy July whilst temperatures in Europe rival those on the surface of Venus. I just hope things improve in time for my holiday in Whitby next month.
Hope you get that dizziness checked out Alice! Take care!
By the way, don’t know if you saw the “Life in the Flatlane” Cute post the other day. I need to know – are these lanes for real?
I’m seeing a doctor on Monday, but I’m fairly sure it was due to some eye treatment I recently had for double vision (a botox injection into an eye muscle). Things get MUCH worse before they improve and everything looks off-kilter, hence the sick dizzy feeling.
I’ve never actually seen the duck lanes but we do have underground Hedgehog Highways and Toad Crossings (“help a toad across the road”). Twenty years or so ago York was overrun with Canada geese – we could have used designated Goose Dormitories alongside the River Ouse to accomodate the birds who fell asleep in broad daylight, totally oblivious to cars driving by just inches away!
Which reminds me, a couple of weeks ago I walked through a park in the centre of York and saw a duck fast asleep next to an egg it had laid right next to the path.
Keep us posted on your eye situation, Alice. Hope it improves soon!
I love the critter lanes idea.
Oh how lovely Alice. Thanks for the images!
YES. Eye and ear disturbances can cause a ton of vertigous issues.
Don’t know if that’s a word.
That sounds kind of scary. Hope that you can get some relief.
I had a glaucoma treatment yesterday and thankfully I haven’t had bad side effects like you unfortunately have done.
Yikes, Georgiana! Stay safe and heal quickly,
This is awwsome! It’s so sweet when animals snuggle like that. Sounds like an exciting birthday Georgianna, and sorry about the fall. And yes, I would be sitting in the couch doing nothing today too.
Not sure what’s on the schedule for today. We went from relatively mild weather to heat wave pretty much overnight and my poor body is still trying to adjust. Might do some yard work early than errands and later on, into the pool. Both puppers went to the vet yesterday, they’re in pretty good shape. Thor has some back leg joint issues but vet says it’s mild enough that he won’t need surgery. Yea!!! Recommended some fish oil and glucosamine supplements. Other than that, just relaxing and trying to stay cool.
No plans today. Got some chores to do. Woke up stuffy and my ears are clogged. The weather keeps saying ‘scattered thunderstorms’ but other than some rain before I got up yesterday (I only know because the ground was still a bit wet when I left) I’ve seen nothing. It’s ‘partly cloudy’ and mid 80s now, maybe storms in the afternoon. When I left work there were some ominous clouds off in one direction but nothing came of that.
Incoming!
Never! Let’s make bad decisions!!!!
Yes, he will need all 9 lives
The athleticism is amazing. Cats are amazing
Read the word “incoming” and wisely put down my meal shake.
Squiddy, your snuggle boys are charming. It’s too hot to even think of snuggling here, but they’re adorable.
I’ve made myself a list of things to do today, and I’m going to force myself to power through them. I’m tired of putting them off for no reason, and the “guilt” is keeping me awake at night.
Got my eyes checked yesterday. Apparently they’re very healthy, however, I still need to wear prescription glasses. And this time, they’re progressive lenses!
Trying to be patient with hubby as we deal with the aftermath of his dad’s passing.
Off to finish breakfast and then work on my list. Have a great weekend, everyone.
I had to watch twice just to figure out where he came from.
I have my own list and I need to force myself, too. I’m not very good at that.
I got progressives a few years ago. Took a couple weeks to get used to them.
I saw all that on the news Georgiana! So strange! Stay well and stay upright! 💕
I need a private island so I can get some reading done.
Idyllic
Squiddy, if I were your boss, I’d let you out of the Zoom meetings. That snuggling is top-notch! Though I think Cheshire (or is it Bertie?) has eaten the baby’s head! Sorry, I’m struggling with names today.
I’m catching up with distant friends and family this weekend–just spent several hours on the phone! Also the usual errands, warping the loom for a new project, and hopefully consulting with Home Depot on a new kitchen countertop and sink. I’ve lived in this condo for nearly a year, and I absolutely hate the ones in place. The countertop is too busy and the sink is too inconvenient.
Hugs to you all.
Meow.

Ha!! Lol Kar! Exactly! 😸🤣
I was thinking Lauren Bacall.
How about Brenda Vaccaro?
Ok, I’ll ask.
