Some characters in Greek mythology are metaphors for the futility of life, the most famous being Sisyphus, condemned you to roll a ball uphill for eternity. Less well known is his dog Wooflesnuf, condemned to fetch a ball just out of reach.

Ha!😁
I think he needs a new ball…
Are we sure the ball isn’t the condemned party here? It appears to be screaming.
That is a perfect image of pure frustration
Sisyphus is my totem animal.
Poor Wooflesnuf! What did he do to earn such a punishment?!?!?!
That’s what I was going to say!
Haha! Very timely. Just yesterday I was out for a walk and passed a house where the doggo’s ball had gone past the fence close to the street. Poor thing was barking at it like crazy so without thinking I walked up and grabbed the ball to toss it over. That ball was coated (I mean, dripping) with dog slobber. The human came out just then so I traded the ball for antibacterial gel and paper towels! 😂 But, doggo was now happy which is what matters.
Brava! You were someone’s hero!
Poor puppers! So close but yet so far. I had to look twice because the ball almost looks like an angry bird from the computer game, lol.
The Tantalus of dogs.
