    bows to his highness
    Happy Caturday!

So my dad had surgery on Thursday. He had something on his kidney; the doctor doesn’t think it looks like cancer but it’ll be a few weeks before test results come back. They said he’d probably come home today, or if he was doing well enough even possibly yesterday, but he wasn’t having a good day yesterday and my mom wasn’t sure if he’d even come home today. Still early yet so I haven’t heard anything so far.

This is long and I haven’t even watched it all, but….squee!!

Update: not coming home today. Better in some ways but has a sore throat from the tube during surgery which he says is worse than yesterday. Went for a walk. Waiting for my mom to answer on whether we can visit.

We’re sending hugs and purrs to you and your dad. It’s scary to have a parent in the hospital, but I’m sure your dad will be home soon.

Always happy to see the handsome Teller.

Allein I hope your dad feels good enough to come home soon.

My 12 year old Mac computer started to have serious problems Thursday and is practically unusable I was planning to buy the new 24 inch iMac anyway but it will only start to be available next week, so right now I’m reduced to using my iPad for everything.

Minnie is feeling better and as started to eat more but there is no escaping the fact that she’s 17 years old and is starting to feel her age.

I have a ten year old Mac computer and I have used my iPad for everything for 2 years. If I wasn’t retired I’d still have to use the Mac for work but…

My darling Sevi is 16 so I know what you mean. Any little change sends me into a panic. Give Minnie some kisses from me.

He’s so handsome and if highness so requests, I think I can find some yummy nom noms to appease his wrath. Sorry about your dad Allein, hope he feels better soon and it’s nothing serious. Still dealing with Santa Ana weather here, warm and very dry. Getting my flu shot today which will determine what else I feel up to doing today. Probably hit up the library to pick up a book and maybe the thrift shop. Have a good weekend everyone.

    Good Morning all,
I don’t want to get out of bed. The idiots constructing next door damaged the party wall and now my front gate will not close. They’ve double parked on the street and blocked my car in and I just don’t want to deal with them. They are so inconsiderate. 🙁
I have to get into my studio this weekend and make a book, but I really just want to be watching stupid stuff on Netflix and crocheting.
Farmshare gave us a big butternut squash, so I think I’ll make soup. Yum yum. If I make it vegetarian, I can can it and have it for lunch when I’ve been to lazy to prepare something.
And we get an extra hour tomorrow! Yipee! I love “falling back.”

I hear ya on the “stupid stuff on Netflix and crocheting”! I sympathize with construction woes and I, too, love falling back!

I want to watch the third season of Ted Lasso this weekend. Not sure if I’ll get through all twelve episodes by tomorrow night but we’ll see.

Happy Caturday, all! And welcome back, beautiful Teller. It’s been far too long since we’ve seen your handsome face.

Exciting week here! The snow was mostly melted by Monday afternoon but it was pretty cold for late October. I think Colorado gets the opposite weather from everyone else. We’re now back to autumn with highs in the 60s.

On Tuesday, I donned my Ken costume (“I am Kenough” rainbow hoodie and my natural hair) and went in to work where coworkers had dressed as Alan, Weird Barbie, and Human Barbie. We had so much fun. Then in the evening, I saw Eddie Izzard down in Denver. If you get to see this show, don’t hesitate! I laughed myself silly, sitting next to another woman in the Kenough hoodie. She and I had a nice time talking about our cats during intermission.

Then on Wednesday, I was hit with the nasty cold that’s been traveling around the office. Hope I didn’t infect the other Ken. I’m still pretty achey and congested, so it will be a quiet weekend for me.

Always nice to see Teller’s beautiful face. 🙂

Must be the week for hospital visits- my hubby had (long overdue) prostate surgery on Wednesday and was released on Thursday evening, but I really think they should have kept him longer. I hadn’t planned to take yesterday off because I thought he would be able to take care of himself, but he was much too shaky and in too much pain for me to be comfortable leaving him alone. That, and I had a bad migraine, so I had to get rid of that (yay, Imitrex!) before I could even help him very much. So I slept a lot of the day, in between caring for him, but I feel a lot better today, and hubby is doing much better, doing almost everything for himself without help now.

Going on a haunted tour of a local high school tonight (Stadium High, where the movie 10 Things I Hate About You was filmed- it looks like a castle!) so that should be fun. I’ve been on several other ghost tours from the same company and they’ve all been very good.

Sending virtual hugs to Allein, healing thoughts to DebG, and happy thoughts to Duckie. Have a good Caturday, everyone!

    • 6rabbits November 4, 2023 / 2:37 pm

Is that castle really a school? I thought maybe the insides and outsides were filmed at different locations. It is a *beautiful* place! I love that movie!

      • SoccerSue November 5, 2023 / 11:34 am

Yes, it really is! It was originally built to be a grand hotel, but those plans fell through and it became a school. *Most* of the movie was shot there, but some was filmed in Seattle. And now I need to watch the movie again, haha! Haven’t seen it since it originally came out.

    • DEBG November 4, 2023 / 5:11 pm

So sorry about all your woes this week, Soccersue. Here’s to a quick recovery for your hubby and hope the migraine stays away. We’re sending healing purrs.

  9. Alice Shortcake November 4, 2023 / 4:04 pm

Total confusion reigned at the Shortcakery yesterday. To begin with, I realised that I’d forgotten to put the clocks back. Then for some inexplicable reason I thought it was Saturday, so I trotted down to the local theatre and loitered in the lobby, wondering why no-one was going in for the matinee. Then I wondered if it was in fact only Friday. And it was.

More seriously, I had to cancel my credit card because Booking.com has been hacked and I was completely taken in the the email “they” sent me. Fortunately no money has been taken out of my account, but I had a similar experience earlier this year and have now vowed NEVER to use Booking.com again…

    • DEBG November 4, 2023 / 5:12 pm

Do you put clocks back on Friday night in the UK? In the US, it’s late Saturday/early Sunday.

Grrrrrr about the hacking. I’ve got something going on with my bank accounts that has them locked until Monday.
