Links: Who Can? Toucan

Toucan being scratched on the chin by a human hand

And finally: Bat Pacifier!

We’re all suckers for a cute bat, like this one found by Elizabeth G.

Baby bat pacifier! As the kids in used to say, stick a fork in me I’m done!

I love Danny Boy’s black nose on white fur. Like a perfect little button. (For booping, of course.)

Bat with a ladybug pacifier getting a sponge bath. What are you trying to do to us, Mike?

Did not have “Bat with a pacifier” on my Cutetropolis bingo card.

I’ve always known that bat pacifiers exist, but this one is especially cute! Love the leetle batties❤️

How am I supposed to be productive after all these stories??? I mean I am on vacay but still! Kitties, and birdies that purr, and bats with bappies?? Too much cuteness. I am curious the reason for giving bats pacifiers. Self soothing? Something else?

For comfort and security, basically. It mimics how they would hold onto their mother. From another video description:

Flying-foxes are mammals and as such, they produce milk and suckle their young.
When orphans come into care we provide our babies with a dummy/pacifier which provides both comfort and a sense of security. Dropping a dummy/paci can be a very frightening experience for an orphan and it can initiate frantic crying which is why we are so attentive and responsive if a dummy is lost.

Here’s an article about their bath routine, which contains the video Mike used above (but it doesn’t specifically explain the reason for the pacifier).

Love Touki the toucan! His cuddles, purrs, and hops are just adorable. How does that woman not have bird droppings all over her gorgeous house, though?

Kittens always melt me. And Danny Boy is *very* handsome.

Glad the rest of you are enjoying the bat. I’ll rely on your reports instead of watching myself.

It’s ok, Deb. You don’t have to watch the bat video. It is cute, as you probably know.
