Doghouse of Distinction

It’s time to take a road trip on historic Route 66, where reader AB toured a vision of America’s past — with the help of a four-legged tour guide:

My husband and I had the opportunity to visit Red Oak II near Carthage, Missouri. The artist Lowell Davis recreated the halcyon days of his small town youth by moving structures from his home town. Our tour guide was a friendly pup who walked us to each cute building before proudly escorting us to the gift shop. Outside the gift shop is a dog house with the likeness of our guide.

Photograph of one side of a old and rustic farmhouse. In front of a brick wall to the left is a wooden dog house with the likeness of a dog painted on top of it. To the right, is the actual dog depicted in the painting.
Be sure to buy something…
I’m still making payments on the house.

But Kitten Miri has the best of toys: A tent that lets her make lots of noise.
