The Story of Hetty

Abandoned and malnourished, a poor kitten sat stranded atop a high wall while traffic whizzed past. But Fate sent a protector, in the form of a handsome young motorist who stopped to take her home, clean her up, and name her Hetty. With a belly full of food, Hetty grew into a beautiful cat who rewarded her benefactor with cuddles every day. (The Dodo via Murray C.)

The Story of George and Guy

How one scared little piggy found a friend

One little piggy went to market — but a twist of fate changed his life for the better. When caregivers at Iowa Farm Sanctuary learned about a piglet that fell off a semi truck, they took him in. “The little piglet was emotionally defeated and physically covered in road rash,” the Sanctuary noted on its Facebook page.

They named the piglet Guy and tried to feed him, but he wouldn’t eat on his own. “We were syringe-feeding Guy and physically putting soft food into his mouth,” they said, “but nothing clicked.” Until Guy met George, one of the older pigs.

“Guy snuck into George’s room — and right into George’s food bowl!” they said. “George shared his food with Guy like the sweet boy he is!” And so George and Guy have been friends ever since, cuddling together and taking long walks outside, as Guy explores his new home. (via Andrew Y.)

Kitten Locates Missing Mickey Mitten

Kansas City cop finds love — and glove

One Kansas City police officer rescued a kitten, made a new friend, and… located Mickey Mouse’s missing glove? Recently, officer Jason Smith of the North Kansas City police spotted a kitten stranded on a traffic barrier. The scared kitten, who struggled at first, eventually warmed to Smith in his patrol car, and Smith’s family adopted the stray.

But that wasn’t the only thing Smith discovered. Starting at :38 in the video, one can clearly see the kitten standing next to Mickey Mouse’s glove. Reached for comment, Mr. Mouse said “Gosh! I’ve been looking for that thing everywhere!”

Video found by Elaine W. on The Animal Rescue Site. (And now I’m going to camp out on Google Maps for the rest of the day looking for that glove.)
