Looking back on the incident, I can see some error on my part. I was caught up in the heat of the moment and should have known better. In my defense, however, it was awfully unsportsmanlike for the squirrel to dive into the bramble like that.

Aw…poor baby!
Or call it the new trend and wear it with confidence! All the Schnauzers will want them!
(lol…the title on the original says “When I was done laughing and taking pictures, I helped him clean his beard”)
Oh poor baby! I remember coming home with my long hair full of burdocks after paying in a field full of them. My mother painstakingly took them out one by one and let me say it was not a pleasant experience for either of us, I hope it’s not as painful for this pup.
These are just panicles from something like an oak tree, nothing prickly, so don’t worry on his behalf. Very cute doggie.
I was thinking they looked like the things that came off the birch tree we had in the front yard when I was a kid. I used to turn them into “flour” for my backyard mudpie baking projects. (I had a mini picnic table under the overhang behind my bedroom with toy dishes and stuff. My pie pan was a frisbee and my ‘oven’ was the orphaned steps that were never removed when the previous owners moved the back door.)
Allein, you are a woman after my own heart – I did much the same, making little packets of “food” tied up in leaves and putting them in the oven, which was a pile of rocks. What can I say, I played by myself a lot. My mother always said she couldn’t punish me by sending me to my room because I spent most of my time there!😀
Some of my dishes were real miniature Tupperware. 🙂 We also had a maple tree (that one’s still there) and I would use the little whirlygig thingies in my pies. I probably started quite a few baby trees…
If I got sent to my room I’d just read a book.
I used to lip sync to my 45rpm records and learned all the B sides. And I would draw and color.
This picture makes me itchy and uncomfortable. I can only imagine how the poor pup feels.
Poor baby, the downside to having a long haired pet. This is why all my babies were short haired. I remember hating having my hair brushed and fussed at when I was a kid so no way was I subjecting my pets to that.
“Mistakes were made” is my favorite translation of long apologias/ explanations by public figures when they’ve been caught doing something wrong.
There’s a book called Mistakes Were Made (but Not by Me)
The subtitle is “Why We Justify Foolish Beliefs, Bad Decisions, and Hurtful Acts.”
