As veteran cuteologists know, anything with “pygmy” in it is cute. So when both Maureen P. and Amy S. submitterated this item from Zooborns about a new pygmy marmoset born at the Chester Zoo, I knew you’d love it in a big way.
The pygmy marmoset is the world’s smallest monkey, weighing only one-third of a pound when fully grown. So you can just imagine how tiny the newborn must look riding around on father Gumi’s back.
I don’t even want to think how strong a telephoto lens they had to use to get that teeny-tiny, itty-bitty little tongue!
He is a mighty ape of the forest! Nyerhe!
Because I can never see or hear their name without the fun ear worm, here ya go. It is only polite to share.
Oh, man, you beat me to it.
Great now that song will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Thanks a lot HAHA 🙂
I always think of this, too, and had to stop and watch cos the video just tickles my funny bone for some reason! Thanks Haha! ?
Wow, that picture doesn’t even need a tonguehance!
Needs a soda can or something for size comparison.
A banana perhaps? http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/banana-for-scale
lol…but the marmoset might eat it…
Intergalactic go to object for scale. I can see the astronauts using soda cans for scale on Mars. As long as they recycle.
The baby is adorable but the papa’s expression in the second photo is killing me.
Don’t touch my kid!!
The yellow fur looks like feathers.
Baby says: My tongue is as big as my nose!
The article in Zooborns also mentioned that the mother of the baby, aside from feeding him, has nothing
else to do with the baby: the father does all the carrying and the rest of care for the baby….;
That’s funny; because in nature, it’s almost a given that the mom does most of baby upbringing….;
(other than, of course, the sea horse, who actually gives birth to the babies…) Guess every rule has an exception…;
Actually there are other devoted dads in the animal kingdom–like pengiuns! Here is a list

…so would a papa marmoset be a ‘Papaset’? A ‘Parposet’? In any event, parenting like a boss!
Papaset there’d be days like this?
Ha! Awesome!
You can see why the demand for pet marmosets is putting the species in danger.
