I had a black cat who loved ripping up paper. She would have had a ball with that army.
Very clever little movie. Of course I was routing for the cat 😀
War is hell.
Terror Tabby – perfect for tabloids and Fox News
It’s terrifically clever, but I just can’t find guns and gun violence cute, not even in animated form and with a darling cat. I come here for a respite from war, hatred, and death, so this makes me a bit sad. I had to stop watching it. I can see that others enjoy the film without having the sad associations, though, and more power to you all. I wish I could, but … I just can’t.
Happy Saturday anyway, folks.
I agree and felt exactly the same way as you, Ricky’s Mom. It was not cute, the premise certainly was not cute.
I didn’t care for it, either. I appreciate the creativity but it’s just not my taste. I don’t expect that all posts on any site will be to my liking and I still love it here!
I love the smell of catnip in the morning.
Brilliant! *applause*
Thanks to everyone for their honest comments. I regret that this video was troublesome to some readers and I will avoid this subject matter in the future.
With apologies to Abraham Lincoln
You can please all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot please all the people all the time.
Please don’t censored yourself, I think it’s OK for some people not to like a particular post but other do, they can say they don’t care for it, that’s fine. But not only the opinion of people who do not like something should count. The opinion of people who liked it count to.
Hear, hear!
c’est vrai, certainement, Gigi.
I found this funny, and no, I don’t go punching or stabbing people for fun in my spare time. I would never have found this charming and amusing video without your willingness to share it on your site. Thank you.
I agree it’d be a shame for you to censor yourself. If you get too tied up trying to avoid anything that might offend anyone, first the site will lose its spontaneity, and second it’ll become such a chore you’ll be less likely to keep doing it (and none of us wants that!).
With that said, while I was highly impressed with the special effects, I did find them disturbing. I get the point; this is like the bullets shot at the Indominus Rex in Jurassic World — the monster is impervious, it can’t be hurt by our puny little weapons. But I still found it disturbing, even mean-spirited, to show bullets and explosions (even CGI ones) aimed at a cat.
But if I’d wanted, I could have stopped watching and gone on to the next post.
“And as the only one of us with a face…”
That cracked me up.
Me, too. While not my favorite kind of subject matter, I admire animation of all kinds. I think this one strayed from its premise when it introduced things that weren’t lo-tech. Keeping it all paper would’ve been funnier and less violent.
NTM, you can’t NOT post things if they are funny to you – you can’t censor everything and try to please everyone. We know you’re doing a wonderful job and you can’t please all of the people all of the time. It’s like when I send in a video – I’m running it up the flag pole to see if you salute ?.You do the same with us. We can say yay or nay but that’s just our opinion. Like the Mother Goose rhyme says “Different folks got different ‘pinions: Some like apples, some like inions”.
Agreed: NTMTOM should not feel censored and I for one am grateful for this site. Am I going to love all posts equally? No and that’s OK. Furthermore I do like the odd action movie and believe that this was nonsensical enough to be funny and appropriate for this place
That being said I do hope that my fellow nontomians don’t think that I am not sympathetic with their views. ?
What Murray C. and Mariana said.??
Me too.
When the first guy turned around I was thinking, “how do we know which way he’s actually facing?”
Funnier, less violent versions by Dav Pilkey.
And…
The film editing was done in the modern shock/horror form,of sudden rapid action in a surprise and unexpected manner. It mirrors hardcore violence based films a bit closely and this is what may be causing problems for some readers. My initial reaction was thinking this was outside the nature of this site, and I was uncomfortable with seeing it here. After I looked at it a second time I was ok with it.
Dunno what to say about post/dont post.
??????
Here is a doggy meeting a kitty
So adorable!
So cute, such a confident, brave little kitten! And sweet, sweet doggie.
I trust Mike to post whatever he feels is right for his site. I’m grateful for the sympathy and support of those who feel as I do, and for the civility of those who don’t—I really mean that. Of course I don’t expect everyone to feel the same way, or to enjoy the same things! If I were assigning tags (of course I have no problem with the fact that I’m not!), I’d have assigned the video to That’s Not Cute. I would have felt better prepared for what it turned out to be. That’s all I meant.
I appreciate it so much that Mike has given us ways to express our feelings here, and that he is responsive. Thanks, Mike, as always, for the cuteness, your wit, and your wackiness.
The animation was well done and the cat did an excellent job. Please don’t censor yourself Mike. If you try to please everyone you’ll end up pleasing no one. Maybe if you’re worried about certain video content, put up a warning.
Mike, you would please no one, most of all, yourself.
And there goes the whole – dare I say it ? – shootin’ match.
“you gotta be true to yourself, it’s all you got” – Janis Joplin.
I really thought the paper Army guys were no different than the little green Army men in Toy Story, actually. I don’t think censoring is needed, but a “PG-13 Guns & Violence” rating might help some folks.
