Yes, it’s unusual to see a duck andΒ her brood nesting near the Eagle Snacks, but don’t get your feathers in Ruffles. This is just where she Lays them, and the store decided to Keebler here.

I really, really, really want to know the story here.
I’m sorry to say I can’t find one. This image appeared in 2015 on Tumblr, where users commonly post only pictures with no supporting information.
Yeah. I figured if you had it you’d have included a link.
Next question: How many do we think there are? I counted 11. Maybe. Possibly 12. Or maybe more. Hard to say.
This made me say Awwwww out loud! But they look so stranded.
Exactly. Adorable but heartbreaking.
Have I mentioned before how much I love birds?
Because I love birds. Ducks are delightful.
Baby ducks are double-delightful!
And bravo, NTMTOM, on the snack food punnery! So much funnery.
“Bird”cage? And that avatar?
Never would have guessed.
I know! I’m an enigma. Wrapped in a mystery. Lurking in a paradox.
I am unknowable. Seek the knowing of me and ye shall find only perplexities that will boggle thee …..
I am duly boggled.
Lurking in a Pair o’ Ducks??
Oh HO! π π π
Hence my original name: Lurkingduck.
Ah HA!
From the writing on the bags it appears to be in Japan, so you know the mama duck and her babies probably had the run of the store until she decided to leave by herself. But all the mention of snacks gave me the munchies π
Japan. Of course.
Let’s hope the babies don’t ‘Utz’ on the floor – that wouldn’t be sanitary! (Ok, that’s a reach, but it’s all I’ve got).
Yep, definitely Japan, so you know mom and the little fuzzballs are safe.
Utz on the floor. That’s my new expression when my dog misses the poop pads. Bucky took an Utz on the floor. Thank you!
How rude! Next we’ll have a new euphemism for barfing!
Mike, I think that coffee table book should have a dictionary in it.
I like the medieval usage – “spewing”. And then there are all the more modern euphemisms, ” making a long distance call to Ralph O’Roark” or “Driving the Porcelain Bus”
Oh, Murray, you and I could have fun with this…
Do tell!?
Sorry, Nomtommers. This is a temporary jacking. Please remain calm. Some of you may wish to avert your eyes.
Murray, you’re on!
Bark, honk, harph, lurch, ralph, yahoo, urge to urbble, yogurt, yak, self-expressing, reverse peristalsis, testing toilet acoustics, singing in the drain, exorcism.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.
Technicolor yawn.
And, Duckie, you win! I do like “Singing in the Drain”
especially. and in my family, for reasons unknown, we said “Yip”. It’s Folklore, people!
I knew someone who had written a treatise that was published in Sing Out, the folk magazine, and some people dropped their subscriptions because some of the things he wrote about were a little “earthy” for the 1950’s. My favorite was a simile “Dry as a Popcorn Fart”.
Very earthy. Love it, but you’ll never get me to admit it in public.
talking to god on the big white telephone
“Talking to Earl on the big phone,” hurl, toss your cookies, snap your cookies…
Hehe, any time!
Maybe they’ll make their way over to Mugumogo’s garden and become the latest visitors in Maru’s next video?
Here you go :3

Thank you!
Thank you! I’ll be in Tokyo in January and I’ll keep an eye out for sightings of ducklings to share.
Awesome! So from the first picture there, it looks like 12. Or possibly 13. I think.
Yes, I got 12 – definitely easier to count since they are fanned out more. Thank you Andrew Y!
Andrew Y is AWESOME! Thanks for the story!
Ty *blush* :3
Ditto to Andrew and to all the expressions of cuteness gushing forth. I want to plant my face in all that down – gently, of course.
And there you have the rest of the story. Same picture down a ways. Thanks for sharing the link.
Seeing the other pictures in the news story reminded me that I have some very unfocused iPad pictures of a Mama Goose and her babies in a retail store in Vancouver. They were trying to get to the water at lunchtime by walking along a very busy narrow sidewalk.
They checked out the store and then finally went back outside where people tried to clear a path for them to the closest park. I had to go back to work, so I didn’t see where they ended up.
well this store stocks the Mike, but do they have the Not That Mike the Other Mike?
hee hee hee, I saw that! π
No way! There is only one Not That Mike the Other Mike and he is ours.
“Mike” is a popcorn line in Japan, under the Frito Lay family. They have weird flavours of popcorn like Clam Chowder and Ponzu.
The description of Mike snacks is : Delicious buttered soy sauce flavor popcorn!! Perfect crunchy snack when watching a movie.
I like soy sauce on my fried rice but on popcorn????

Is it my wonky work computer or no hover?!
Do not adjust your set. Hovertext was missing, is now added.
Oh good, now insert kinda lame dirty joke like ‘Mike always goes straight to my thighs.’
*snerk*
?
The hovertext no longer appears on the RSS feed, so now if I want to see it I have to click on every post. Like I mind, mind you.
Thank you for noting that. I don’t think my website software gives me detailed control over what goes in the feed, regrettably.
“…were sure how to take a quack at the issue.” **Snerk**
Yes, I liked that. They also have a cute story, with pix, of nice Japanese policemen helping a duck family cross the street.
Mama Duck doesn’t want you to touch the snax, she thinks they’re Herr’s.
?
Oh, good one! π
Is that Wise??? (Zcheesh, took me. Long enough!)
…but worth the wait! π
Lawsons, and they park themselves in the chips/snack aisles? The onigiri (rice balls) and the soft egg salad sandwiches are where it’s all at in Lawsons.
They can’t have egg salad!!! That would be cannibalism!
