We take you now to the next track and field event: the 50-yard dash for the easily distracted. First and second place are too close to call, but we’re pretty sure we know who’s got a lock on the bronze:
Priorities, Ricky’s Mom.

Dude, you wanted me to run past the food? I don’t get it.
What do you mean I’m not supposed to eat them?!
My Bucky exactly.
I love how dog was still chewing as the girl held it at the finish line. So not finished.
Dog: Finish Line = Finish All The Food! I win!!
He ate a whole liverwurst!
This was a speed eating competition, no?
I am this dog.
My personal theory, and I realize that this may seem counterintuitive, is that “Yakkity Sax” makes him hungry.
Yakity Sax has a lot to answer for. 🙂
Don’t be blaming the Yakkity .. ever ..
I know which dog had the most fun! 😀
He might not have won, but he won.
So true.
YES!!
I’m crying from laughing ??? That is so golden ???
Couldn’t agree more, that’s a gut-buster. And the music switch was priceless. Goofy music for a wonderfully, charmingly, goofy dog. Good find, Ricky’s Mom!
Me three!!! First time I wear makeup in several weeks and it gets ruined by watching this video. I felt sooo sorry for the poor girl, she had this look like oh man, why is this happening, I thought the training took. THINK AGAIN!!! And I don’t know why they thought using a golden in an agility event was a good idea, as you can see they get distracted waayy too easily.
The first 2 dogs are watching the Golden and they are soooo bummed.
“You mean I could have eaten the food too? You lied to me!“
Exactly!!
I’ve read a lot of articles that that suggest that dogs know inequity and they know deception.
I wonder if the first 2 dogs will be less “trainable” upon watching the Golden.
Oh a dog after my own heart! If he were mine, I would have loved him even more after this hilarious “event”!
Sometimes it better to loose the rule book.
This reminds me of a PBS documentary I saw about dog training. They were testing dogs for their distractibility (it’s a word now) and they had a whole bunch of goldens lined up in a run, and they loosed a shower of tennis balls in there. I can’t remember if any of them broke, but what a test!
I’ve been coping with an ear worm all day, and now this sax music…
Cuties, does anyone remember a song from lo-o-o-ong ago, that went “I love my rooster, my rooster loves me. I love my rooster neath the cottonwood tree. My little rooster goes cock-a-doodle-doo, de-doodle-de-doodle-de-doodle-de-do”. I keep breaking into song, but I keep replacing rooster with animals from this site, and all day, I’ve been wondering what a wombat says!
Duckie, I love that you have an ear worm about a rooster – sad to say, I don’t know that particular rooster song – lots of others, but not that one. And, yes, what sort of a sound a wombat makes is a matter for consideration and deep discussion – AND research!?
I found this by Googling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtbPk5NsEQA
I love Almeda Riddle – and I met her many, many years ago. She is one of the greats in the pantheon of American Folk Music. Not what the thoroughly modern ear is used to hearing – you have to come to it with some knowledge, I think, but she’s wonderful.
‘K, I’ve been wanting to post this all day, because it’s where my mind goes when I hear Yakety Sax.

What a hoot! Couldn’t understand a lot of what they were going on about, but they are very good!

Full disclosure, the bass player’s my cousin 😉
(He’s the one on the left.)
Big 🙂
Well, that’s darn cool. And the list is wonderful – lots of songs there I know and need a word refresher. It makes me chortle a bit to see the woman’s posture – she’s not sure she wants to be there or not.
She’s actually not part of the band anymore. Then her replacement was with them for a year or two and she left several months ago. They are currently without a regular fiddler, as far as I know. (The album that song is on is from 2005.)
When I hear it, I think two words .. a Name really …
Benny Hill … (RIP)
I adored Benny Hill – I was not so enamored of those speeded up scantily clad girl chasing scenes (where I believe Yakkity Sax (sp?) was the musical accompaniment, but I loved his poems – he had a strong connection to the English Music Hall and I’ve performed English Music Hall for more than half of my life at this point. He was a very erudite man – completely obsessed with performing. And goofy as all get-out.
priorities:food,toys,more food
A dog who knows what really matters ?
“I’m a retriever. I retrieve all the foods.”
Food, I understand. But I LOVE when he grabs the toy!
YES! I did, too.
