Who Let the Dogs Out?

First, a shout-out to Courtney for increasing her subscription. Thank you!

And now, reader Laura H. takes us to a very special no-kill dog shelter in Costa Rica, Territorio de Zaguates, that lets visitors visit and play with hundreds of dogs. Here’s a video, including an all-too-appropriate earworm.

Oh, YES! I do wonder how they keep track of them all. What a wonderful situation for those doggies.

*adds Costa Rica to holiday destinations list*

Agreed! Can make a world tour with the various sancturaries featured here. First Hawaii for the cat shelter, Costa Rica for the dogs, then on to England for Monkey World, and after that who knows??

Don’t forget Costa Rica is where the sloth sanctuary is too!

oooh that’s right and where was that bat rescue org? I think maybe Australia, New Zealand??

        • Smartypants August 24, 2016 / 8:09 pm

Oh, and the wombat refuge too – sleepy meadows?

There’s bat rescues in the UK – they rescue the teeny little pipestrelles. I think it’s the Isle of Wight rescue…

Hey, NTMTOM – my little doodad changed! I used to be a little green dude. What happened?

I’m seeing a green critter with wings next to your name. Below is a screenshot of your comment on my computer.

That’s so weird. This is what it looks like to me, and this is the normal machine I use to get to the site.

In my email I see purple dude, but on the page I see green dude…

We blame Mike for EVERYTHING that goes wrong .. it is his fault after all … just “Not that Mike, it’s the other one”

                • allein ? August 26, 2016 / 11:56 am

Blame that Mike, not the other one.

My computer shows a random picture on the screen when I wake it up, before I put my password in. Usually it’s a landscape but today was a new one – a sloth hugging a tree!

Oh sooooo cute!!! This isn’t running of the bulls but running of the dogs but what a way to get run over. And the dogs looked like they are enjoying their time outdoors – lots of rolling in grass, laying on grass, running through grass, running through water/mud. Best moment, guy runs down hill with dogs after him, he slips and gets run over by dogs. Second best moments, dogs drinking from trough and other dogs jump into said trough. Love it!

I like how at the end of the video the dogs are all worn out, and no longer running. Lots of dog joy in that place.

Oh my goodness! If you wanted to adopt one of these sweeties, how could you ever choose? It would be like being a mosquito in nudist colony! (An expression of my dad’s when faced with many options! )

I would LOVE to have a walk with a herd of 600 dogs!!

  7. ^oo^ August 24, 2016 / 11:08 pm

The pupster at 1:52 is trying to shake the earworm.

  8. Faye August 25, 2016 / 12:33 am

And no fighting. No leashes. No being alone while human’s go to work. Heaven.

Would adoption be somewhat isolating after living in a giant pack?

    • allein ? August 25, 2016 / 10:20 am

I was thinking that, too. Wouldn’t they be lonely if you took just one? You’d at least have to take a friend, too.
