You Picked the Wrong Beagle, Bonehead

If you were just a rattling bag of bones, the last place you’d want to be is around any dog, let alone a frisky dog like Maymo. So when a spooky skeleton sneaks up on the plucky beagle, our hero doesn’t find it very… humerus.

That skelly’s a numbskull, Faye.

I’m surprised he has the guts to go up against Maymo..

No guts and no glory. Lol.

At the very last seconds there is a bone crunching sound! That’s some chew toy.

I bet Skelly doesn’t let anything get under his skin.

      The WHAT??

        Exactly.

Reminds me of a joke. A skeleton goes into a bar and when the bartender asked him what he’d like he said “A beer….and a mop.”

Due to the serious nature of this incident, the Department of Homeland Spookurity has raised the threat level to “Spooky.”

      *whispers fearfully*

I think there is a skeleton inside me! What do I do??!!

Your mind is truly a bottomless well of awesomeness.

This is a song I’ve known for a long time, have the original sheet music, but this film is terrific – hadn’t seen it before – it’s a compilation, is that right? I’ve always loved the imagination of old time animators – skeletons playing their ribs like xylophones, etc.

It’s a compilation of two early Walt Disney cartoons: “The Skeleton Dance” and “The Haunted House,” with Mickey Mouse.

I laughed so hard when I saw this “warning” that I snorted. Several times. At work. 😛

My daughter has a skeleton in her car. The skeleton has a cat (last year, a rat skeleton was added). This is Pedro, he pretty much lives in my daughter’s car (a 1982 Cadillac hearse). This picture is a couple years old, Pedro now has a sporty red and blue plaid jacket and a navy blue pair of slacks. The skeletons are all fake, so no cats or rats were harmed in the making of this picture.

        That. is. awesome.

Glad to see he’s wearing his seatbelt. Safety first!

Wow! The portrait that is emerging over time of you and your family is very compelling, Patty!

If I knew how to do a chart I would do one so that I could keep track of everyone’s bio details as they become known – I’m starting to get confused about who does what, is on vacation, has something coming up, has which pets, their names, etc. I do know Duckie has surgery on Nov. 7 – we’ll be checking in on you, Duckie!

I have an interesting family, no doubt. I am the middle child of 7, but was the caretaker of all. I had 5 kids, and they are all different, but they get along great. My oldest was 18 when the youngest was born. She had a son when her baby sister was 2.5. I had the little ones at the store, and someone walked up to the cart, and said to my youngest, “Aww, is that your baby brother?” She crossed her arms and indignantly said, “NO! That is my nephew.”

Hehe, that’s cute! I have a college friend who, when we were in school, had a brother who was around 7; her older sister’s oldest was around the same age.

(Which just made me realize he’d be in his late 20s now. Oy.)

There were two girls the same age in my daughter’s Brownie troop who were like that — one was the other’s aunt. And there was a family that lived down the street when I was high school that had 12 or 14 kids so spread out that the youngest had a dozen nephews and nieces by the time he was 5 years old.

Also: Maymo! It’s lovely to see him again! I’ve missed so many of the regulars at the Old Ranch, and while I appreciate you wanting to make this site your own, Mike, I think you’ve amply succeeded and an occasional peek back at an old favorite never hurts. 😀

Maymo! Always such fun, and his parents are so creative with video.

Do you think Maymo registered the skeleton as vaguely humanoid or just as a large chew toy?

Knick Knack Paddy Whack Give a dog a bone….

  5. Duckie ? October 31, 2016 / 12:19 pm

LOVE the alert expression on Maymo’s face at the beginning. “You’re pointing that thing at me again. That means you’re going to do something to the dog.”

  6. Smartypants October 31, 2016 / 12:33 pm

I love how he is completely unfazed – just another day in the Maymo household!

Jason could have use Maymo to battle these skeletons.
This is one of my favourite from Ray Harryhausen!

Dogs are so much fun to joke with. My cat would be having none of this.
