So This Is How it Ends

Yeah, I remember my puppy years. Those were good times. Rolling on the carpet, getting belly rubs… She was a puppy then too, but they grow up so fast, and pretty soon they’re looking for someone younger and cuter. So I suppose that thing will be sleeping in my bed now, and I’ll have to sleep on the floor — if I’m lucky.

I guess this dog’s had its day.

    Poor puppers!
I have a feeling kitty is going to discover its claws reeeeeeeeal soon, based on how securely the child is holding it, and puppers will regain his throne and bed.

I said “what’s in the kitchen?” not “get me a kitten”!

LOL. That side eye has got me cracking up.

Looks just like the Little Rascals’ dog (Petey?) – just need to paint the black eye-spot.

OMG that face! I keep alternating between : Awwww poor doggy and laughing out loud!

Me, too! Such a woe begone expression!

Isn’t that face the BEST? He’s really weighing his options.

I think it’s time to pack my bags and go.

(That’s right, hit the road Jack…)

I have the reverse situation with new puppy and nauseated cat. Cat knows she has been overtaken by the cute.

Do we know something about Jan’s sweet Lily cat? I hope all was well with the operation.

    • Murray C. November 29, 2016 / 4:25 pm

And we still haven’t heard from Heike, who sent us the picture of her gorgeous fluffy cat – two weekend threads ago? Before Thanksgiving, anyway – but whose husband got very ill a couple of days later.

        🙁

Oh I hope everything is ok! I hate to see people experiencing difficulties anytime, but especially not at the holidays!

Lily is in the pink! Her surgery went quite well. She was pretty sick from the anesthesia until about 9pm last night, but she’s been eating and drinking just fine since then. I stayed home with her today because they just started re-siding my house and I was afraid that the noise and pounding would upset her enough that she’d hurt her sutures. But she’s been pretty good about that too, so all’s well.

Welcome back Jan & Lily and I am delighted to see and read Lily is doing well and well, a big girl now. 🙂

    • Gigi the cat lady November 29, 2016 / 8:13 pm

So glad everything went fine and Lily is recovering. The skin of a cat is so smooth and warm, I wish I could kiss that little shaved belly, but I’m mot sure how Lily would feel about that so I’ll settle for a virtual kiss ?

    • allein ? November 29, 2016 / 8:15 pm

      Aww, poor baby!

    • Murray C. November 29, 2016 / 8:31 pm

Happy to see Lily back and in the pink – literally, with that belly!

    • fkaWaldenPond November 29, 2016 / 8:36 pm

And btw the Lily, I got a bikini wax the other weekend– there was a significant language barrier between me and the waxer — thus we kinda look um, similar down there. I feel your pain and nakedness.

    • Smartypants November 30, 2016 / 1:53 am

Oh, I’m glad to hear she’s doing well & that she wasn’t distressed by the work outside. What a precious face!

  7. Faye November 29, 2016 / 8:26 pm

So glad your girl Lily is home safe and sound.

Lily thanks you all for your good wishes. She’s back to her rambunctious self this morning and can even jump up onto the bathroom counter again! This is important because her preferred water source is the faucet. (Bowls are passé, you know?) 🙂

My cousin’s (soon-to-be-former) house has a small secondary kitchen island with a sink which, when not serving as the bar during a party, was primarily used as a drinking fountain for his wife’s cat.

Here’s what I wonder — whence the one Down vote? Was it a mistake, someone hit an unintended button? Probably. The ONLY potentially objectionable thing I can find in this post is that the little girl is not holding the kitten correctly. Would someone down vote for that? Is everything a tutorial? Or maybe they don’t like Sonic.

    • Alice Shortcake November 30, 2016 / 12:55 pm

There are now TWO down votes. People are weird.

      • Not That Mike The Other Mike November 30, 2016 / 12:57 pm

I’m not bothered. The downvote button is there so that people can express their displeasure with something without starting a commentroversy or flame war. Whatever the reason for a downvote, I always respect it (and if there are a lot of them, learn from it.)

        • allein ? November 30, 2016 / 1:33 pm

That’s fair. I do wish it could be undone, though. I have hit it by accident a couple times, and then I feel bad.

        • George Michael Sherry December 1, 2016 / 3:59 am

Although I certainly do agree that flame wars and commentroversies are good to avoid (especially for you, NTMTOM, since they’d occur in your webspace and you might have to do something about them), sometimes, to me, a down vote without an explanation is more perplexing than a down vote with an explanation would be annoying. If, for instance, someone had posted “You shouldn’t show photos of people holding animals in ways that might injure them or make them feel afraid — it normalizes bad behavior,” I might think that person was a nuffer, but at least I’d know their reasoning. And if they wrote “That’s not cute, the dog looks sad,” I’d understand even better — the person is nuts and can be blissfully ignored (the dog will be fine). However, you probably know best. Maybe such an explanation would cause more trouble than it’s worth.
