Some readers asked to see more of my new rabbit, Ani, so when she hopped up on the couch last night, I grabbed the camera and recorded her while she played with my baseball cap, licked the sofa and scratched at the cushions.

Awww, Ani is such a cutie. Love how buns love to lick the furniture, instead of the hoomins, dig at the pillows and try to toss things, like the cap, off the couch. Thanks for the update. I take it bunneh proofing / adjustment is going well. NTMTOM, soon she will be trying to boss you around, or get you to move from her space.
I just had a flash of Sheldon Cooper as a bunny: “You’re in my spot.”
Hehe, I just saw that episode where they accidentally ruin his cushion and try to conceal it…
🙂
And I just remembered that Jim Parsons was in the play Harvey, about a man and his invisible rabbit friend.

So cute! Ani looks like she is wearing a big loose collard turtleneck sweater!
She is adorable, and she looks so soft, and such an impressive dewlap! How old is she, do you know? She’s going to keep you busy bunny-proofing the house. 🙂
Yes, I was thinking the same – very nice dewlap. Mike, is she spayed? I hope so – female buns that don’t have kits should, for their future health, be neutered. They develop uterine cancer if not. (lordy be, I do go on, don’t I???)
She is a beautiful bunzer – thanks for sharing her with the Cutetropolis Crowd!
She’s not spayed yet, but I’m making arrangements to have the procedure done soon.
Laura, she turned three last November.
That’s a good age. She’s past all the teenage shenanigans and ready to be a responsible bun!? Do be aware that with buns LICKING something is often a prelude to CHEWING something. They like to look innocently at you and lick and when you turn your back…chomp! Do you have toys for her? Those cat balls with bells are fun for them to toss. They love to toss stuff, especially if it makes noise? The cardboard insides of masking/packing tape are great to chew and toss. My Theo likes to dig, so I save boxes he can jump into. Or I tear them down to one flat piece and anchor it with something heavy on two sides so he can dig and tear off strips. For digging and chewing they like something that stays in place better than loose. I hope Ani is letting you cuddle her–bun ears are so soft and warm!
She’s so prosh, love those ears and her coloring.
Upright earses, woffling nose and a furry dewlap! Mike, I’m jealous.
It’s kind of funny, how we adore on an animal what we would scorn on a human…
Yes, I’m always grateful that I don’t have to lick my arm to clean myself or greet someone by sniffing their butt.?
Haha! Yes, indeed. Especially the second one. ?
Anyone remember the TV show Ally McBeal? If you were a fan, you’ll realize why I just thought of it!?
Cute! I think Ani thinks that is her couch now (which looks very comfy, btw)!
Wonder what Merlin would think of a bun hopping around the house. I think I have the same couch, Mike, so it’s nice to know what it looks like with a bun on it!!!!!
Thank you Mike – you are the best!
She is so sweet – less prepossessing and more endearing than in the picture you showed us.
Ani is lovely, Mike. That was fun. Front view, ears view, and cotton tail. The full bunn. Thank you! Best of luck with her.
Just a note about her dewlap. If she were to have babies, she would pull the fur off the dewlap and line the nest with it. Great how moms know their babies need a soft, warm, place for those naked, blind newborns. Males don’t have dewlaps because they don’t need them. Wonderful how she’s adjusted to life with you. She knows you’re a great person. She can feel it. They’re very sensitive.
That’s cool about the dewlap – I wondered what it was for!
Yes, you can really tell how comfortable she already feels at Chez Mike – I have no experience with bunnehs, and it’s even clear to me.
I had a big Harlequin and he had a dewlap – it was small and rather dapper, I thought. I suppose it was similar to residual mammaries on men.
Some males do have dewlaps. In fact the only rabbit of mine to have dewlap was a neutered male mini-lop! None of my females have had dewlaps, and I don’t usually spay them, I just neuter the males. (Nope, no uterine cancer either! All of my females have lived to at least 9 years old. I had a spayed Holland lop live to 12 and a unspayed Polish live to 13!) I’ve read that sometimes a dewlap will go away after spaying. I wonder if Ani already had a litter? She really is a cutie!
That’s good news. I feel safer neutering – and the rescue I work with always neuters all the buns that pass through their system which makes good sense. It can have an effect on behavior – tho’ more for males probably.
The one female I did spay was in hopes of regulating her behavior. I was ready to swear she was male! She turned very aggressive towards her poor sister. Spaying calmed her down a bit, but she was always a bit anti-rabbit and preferred people. Go figure! ?
I ALWAYS neuter my males–I really don’t like pee sprayed all over my house–or me!? My “best” buns have always been neutered males!?
She is a beauty, Mike, thanks for the video.
Having serious flashbacks to junior high from her cowl neck sweater! Thanks for sharing Ani with us, NTMTOM!
What a gorgeous girl! Thanks for sharing. I too was admiring her dewlap but didn’t realize it had a function other than providing a chin rest.
That scratching sound makes me think… did Mike adopt an aspiring DJ?
“DJ Queen Bunz” perhaps?
