You Otter Watch Who You Trust

First crocodiles, and now spy cams are sneaking in on otters, watching their every move, learning their deepest secrets. It’s all part of a BBC series titled Spy in the Wild, which will be coming to American TVs in February.

Reported by secret agents Monica and Andrew Y.

The otters are adorable, but holy smokes, that otter-cam is some Uncanny Valley stuff!

Me, too, DEBG! There’s a certain peace that washes over one, however temporarily, watching the mom and baby floating along so lovingly.

Years ago, when my son was about 12, we were on the California coast near Cambria, and there was a mom and baby sea otter there. Mom would dive for food, leaving Junior on the surface, where he and my son would stare intently at each other. It was just magical! One of my favorite memories!

I’ve been seeing commercials for this PBS program and can hardly wait to see it all. After the crocs cam, and now the otter cam, I know I’ll be glued to my TV.

“Listen, and understand. That otter is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you give it some abalone or maybe a nice crab leg.”

The first episode was on Nature last night on my PBS station. Amazing, delightful, touching, Just WOW! There are more in the series. I can’t hardly wait! And if they rerun them, I’ll be watching again.

I watched this the other night too. The first episode that focuses on love and emotions in animals was so amazing. Boy, a lot of onions being chopped at my house in the middle of the night…*sniff sniff*
