Guide to Cuternative Bowl Games

Your Super Bowl Sunday is about to becomeย Super Bowl Bunday, because Annie’s Homegrown is presenting its first ever Bunny Bowl. The event, which will stream via the company’s Facebook page, will feature mixed-breed rabbits supplied by Rabbit Ears Rescue, an organization that saves rabbits from kill shelters.

The event joins a growing list of cute-ternative programming for those skipping the big game, such as Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl

… The Nat Geo Wild channel’s Fish Bowl

And the granddaddy of them all, the game for all the marbles, the contest to end all contests… Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl!

Oh my gosh – with that rock-star hair he looks exactly like the President’s physician – the fellow who wrote that crazy letter certifying his health. Now I can’t unsee ๐Ÿ˜€

Happy Superb Owl Sunday! (with thanks to Stephen Colbert for that one).

Wooooo! Bunny Bowl! This is great. I imagine it will be a lot like Hoppy Hour, which is adorable.

Also, the Puppy Bowl commercial is epic.

Yup. Could use some solid alternative factuals of the cute kind tomorrow.

    Guess? Puppy Bowl, of course!

I’m bringing home a new kitty friend tomorrow! So I will be hanging out with her all evening, getting her settled in. I think we’ll watch some cute bowls as a bonding activity.

Introducing Ella! We’re set up in the bathroom to get her accustomed to the new home, and so far she’s mostly been hiding behind the toilet. Some catnip on that scratcher got her to come out for the photo.

Thanks, Claire. She is gorgeous. She looks like she couldn’t decide whether she wanted spots or stripes, and so went with both. How old is she?

My alternative Super Bowl will be Super Bowl LI broadcast in German. I’ve been invited as a resident expert to explain our American football rules and customs to fans at a local restaurant (there was also an article in the local newspaper this week in which I appeared!). But I’m afraid they won’t have the American commercials which is the only reason I tune in! Plus the game starts at half past midnight here and I have to teach all day Monday. I think I may have to check out after the kick-off!!!

I just came back from seeing a scary movie in the theatre– at one point I jumped but in doing so I pulled my knee up and got a cramp in my calf. So, I was that person flailing in row h, seat 9…. Thankfully, I was with my good friend and somehow he lost a contact so we were both a pair.
If anyone is interested, it was Split and James Macavoy is superbly creepy, at times comical. But it is not a movie for everyone as my calf let me know.

Oh, so THAT’s who was causing all the trouble. You made me spill my popcorn.
Don’t worry; I’ve always had trouble with theatre food. Once I had a hot dog pretzel, and at a high point I threw my arms up in victory, and lost the wiener somewhere behind me. I’ve spilled popcorn and drinks, and once I smuggled a bag of jelly beans in, and the bag spilled. I was sitting right at the back of the theatre, and the floor was on a slant, and for a good thirty seconds all you could hear was about two pounds of jellybeans rolling down to the front of the room. The three friends I was with and I missed the next ten minutes of the show, as we were burying our heads in our jackets to hide our laughter.
