And finally: Awwwwwww Yissssssssss
Here’s a hero getting a hero’s reward. Reader Eve S. says “I don’t know if you’ve every featured Apopo’s HeroRats or not, but they are awesome and adorable. They are big rats trained in Tanzania to detect mines. They work in Africa, Southeast Asia, and other places. They are light enough to walk through minefields without getting hurt.”
About Apopo’s HeroRats, it is a commendable program and I whole heartedly approve, but the video doesn’t show a rat, unless I’m mistaken that’s a prairie dog.

That’s what I thought!
I thought the same thing! Adorable, tho’!
Isn’t that afghan crocheted with bunnies on it the best!? I fell in love with that. And the damned silly bunny hat. Patient kitty – but so well loved. And her “stalker” boyfriend – he’s quite the charmer. I do love how he lurks in the background, gazing fondly.
I am choosing to believe that Sophie and Scottie were buddies in the house they came from and happy they found each other again.
It looked pretty prairie dog to me too. We’ve got a lot of them here in Colorado.
Sophie and her blankies! Kittens loving dogs, who love them back. A rescued mooselet. I’m in heaven.
Looks like a prairie dog to me, too. Definitely not one of the rats. Someone at Apopo HeroRATS must have thought it was too cute not to share. And I agree!
Sophie in her little bed…swoon!
Golf ball hover: because he can.
Poor Sophie is actually in the hospital in critical condition, so please send her good thoughts. Her family set up a youcaring account to offset the massive expense https://www.youcaring.com/sophiesophielovestuna-833888 should you be able to help out at all.
Yay moose!
Oops. It was posted on Apopo’s FB page, and I didn’t look closely. The HeroRats are very cute too, tho.
