Links: And Then the Duck Says…

Gobi, you may remember, is the plucky dog who followed a long-distance runner for 77 miles and got a new home. Original story here.

And finally: Splashdance

Those ducks don’t seem to be afraid of people at all, where did they all come from?

The cat Snapchats are hilarious! ??

I am dumfounded by the paper art, I can’t even fathom the amount of patience and talent it take to make something like that.

They just showed the Flash Dance gorilla on the Today show ??

What is its story? The dancing and joy in captivity is heartbreaking.

Of course animals living in the wild is the ideal but the world is not and ideal place and this guy is having fun and I refuse to see anything bad about that.

I’m happy the gorilla is happy too. It’s just that his joy juxtaposed with his situation – and he could be getting the best care in the world – hurt my heart.

No backstory available, but I assume that this is a “backstage” area at a zoo’s gorilla exhibit. We’ve seen similar rooms in the videos of Fiona at the Cincinnati Zoo.

          Backstory here: http://zoohoo.dallaszoo.com/category/mammals/gorilla/

The pool is part of behind-the-scenes enrichment activities set up for Zola at the Dallas Zoo.

And here’s Zola when he was younger, at Calgary Zoo.

Thank you! I’ve seen that earlier video before. I’m sure we used it on Cute Overload.

ISn’t it? I’m in floods of tears over it – what is perpetrated on this gorgeous species when they have such joy and spirit – sometimes I hate people. Present company (and probably lots of others) excepted.

I like how they are trying to sweep the ducks out with a swiffer.

      • debg June 23, 2017 / 10:44 am

That’s how I’d do it. By the way, those things are great for washing walls before painting. The swiffer (with wet pads), not the ducks.

Wish I had thought of that when I was painting my condo! We hired people to do the actual painting but my dad and I prepped the walls ourselves (except for the kitchen, which had so many layers of wallpaper we let the pros do it).

Either that’s a really small gorilla or a really big kiddie pool…..

Outstanding links! I’m in tears of laughter over the Snapchat cats!

  6. Caz June 23, 2017 / 1:08 pm

The only reason i have snapchat is to take photos of my cat. Sad, i know.

    • Faye June 23, 2017 / 2:33 pm

      Why else?

    • julie June 23, 2017 / 4:46 pm

You’re lucky that your cat stays still long enough for Snap to decide it’s a face. My dogs won’t stay still long enough 🙁

I finally got to see the cats – it’s a gut-buster! Love Exclamation Point Butt.
