Goldens (and labs) have the most unbelievably beneficent expressions. I feel like aliens from outside the solar system could land on this earth and tell exactly what they were dealing with.
Tiger: “whoah I’m gonna stay in the ship”
Panda: “what is it for???”
Retriever: “It’s probably safe to allow my larva to put socks on it.”
Human : “Run away! Run away!”
What are they? Scarves? Hats? How do you wear them?
Whataver, I’ll take 3.
Awwww.
I have a Golden Retriever story: 1950s, walking my perfectly groomed chocolate colored miniature poodle down the hill in my perfectly manicured suburban Connecticut neighborhood. I get surrounded by a (much richer than my family) neighbor’s pack of 5 off leash Goldens. They work as a team and form a circle around me and my dog. I turn and start walking home. They keep us trapped in the circle and walk along with us. I start to get really scared. And what does my POODLE do? Starts barking and growling to challenge the pack! Well, I swear those Goldens started laughing at him! I did not find it as funny as they did. I was small and they seemed huge! I don’t think they would have done anything but I was very glad my mother came to see why we were late!
Hm I have missed out a lot lately on Cutetropolis, I somehow cannot see Murray’s comments. Do you guys and girls know something about her? Is she alright?
Last heard from Murray C on this thread: https://cutetropolis.com/2017/07/12/pom-pom-crab/?ref=ttl going to be offline visiting relatives. Promised to be back by next weekend’s open thread!
Oh what a relief, thank you, N Fritz!
Hi Em, did you get a new computer? Argghh, that would have been really frustrating having all your electronics fried! I know some insurance covers that but not sure if you carry it. Good to see you back!
So a short summary of June & July: I think I might have mentioned the burst pipe : in a few days I am going to have a kitchen, bathroom and running water in my home again. For a few days there was no electricity either, as the house had to be re-wired. Then I got attacked and had a minor bicycle accident. I did not get injured in either case, just emotionally shaken a bit. Then came the lightning. The insurance covers household appliances, but nothing entertainment related. Actually only the monitor and 2 tvs died, the computer needs only a new power supply. Tomorrow i am getting upgraded to version 3.9, I have had enough of 3.8, so my present from myself is going to be a Tv and a monitor so i am going to have the computer back as well. Thank you for your kindness, it feels great to be remembered.
Attacked?!?
My gosh, didn’t you have enough problems? I am so very, very sorry this all happened to you.
Well basically 2 homeless guys tried to drag me into a dilapidated building. But then police arrived and I got away with a big blue spot on my arm and the world’s dirt on my blouse where the homeless guy grabbed me. This time I was very afraid. Thank you for your sympathy, the last few months were indeed too difficult for me.
What a frightening experience! So glad that it ended the way it did but be gentle with/ take care of yourself when you feel emotionally stressed
Yikes!
Oh my goodness! I’m so glad that you escaped and that the police were there to help. What a scary time.
Sending lots of supportive vibes.
I’m so sorry. What a horrible summer you’ve had. My kitties are sending comforting purrs over the computer.
Wow, and with all of that going on, you thought to ask about Murray C. What a wonderful heart you have! I am sending positive healing thoughts your way. <3
WTF? I am so sorry this has happened to you, but you’re all right and they’re hopefully put away.
I’m so sorry that you’ve had to endure all of this calamity, especially the attacks (!).
On the subject of the electronics, you may wish to consider a surge protector for the expensive items.
Thank you, Mike! I am checking tomorrow what device the computer shop is offering.
OMG! I’m so sorry all that happened to you!
How awful! You have my every sympathy for this spate of simply horribles. I applaud your hanging in, when I know I would be checking out! Every good wish for a speedy return to normalcy (whatever that may be).
So sorry for all this awfulness happening to you! Pls take care, and by all means treat yourself!
Emsthemonster, I encourage you to share your attack with a counselor if you find you are dreaming or thinking about it when working or going about your day.
I am so sad to hear that all of these calamities happened in such a short time span, or at all.
Emsthemonster, I agree with Faye.
These things sneak up on you and alter your attitude about life without your realizing it. (I had a number of things hit me at once a few years back and felt like my life was being erased)
Someone who can help you look at things from a different perspective and teach you coping strategies can be really helpful.
(Or at least seek out a trusted friend who can help you deal–Never doubt the power of a mental health day.)
Take care of yourself.
What a horrible summer! I am so glad you didn’t get hurt in the attack, but I’m sure you still feel mentally freaked out! Sending hugs and warm thoughts. Theo? Sends you a nose nudge.
I don’t think words can describe what I feel now. The emotional support and the kindness I got here brought tears to my eyes. Thank you very much fellow Cutetropolitans, this was an awesome birthday present. As for professional help, these near miss accidents are a lot more traumatic to me than attacks. With my looks I am a magnet for attackers and unfortunately experience has taught me how to deal with those. But I don’t know whether next time when a dangerous situation emerges I will be able to anticipate what is coming up and react fast enough to save my ass or not. In the bicycle accident it depended on a few seconds and a few centimeters that Iam still here to tell my tale. I hope being owned by cats means I also have 9 lives 🙂 Anyway, I will cry myself a nice river and move on. Tomorrow is another day.
?
You sure they’re not ordering lunch?
“Oh! I’ve been looking for a red suede pump!”
I encourage taking a minute to click the link. Such a wonderful sequence of photos.
You are not kidding, Faye. I’m now a puddle and can’t drive home from work.
Yes, what Faye and DebG said
