A wind turbine, nicknamed a “whirlybird,” is a common ventilation method. But to these cockatoos, it turns an ordinary rooftop into a playground.
That looks like a lot of fun, Faye.

I’m a fan!
I just had one of those installed on my house but mine didn’t come with cute cockatoos, I feel cheated!
I love how they politely take turns riding the fun birds-go-round.
Isn’t that the best! The newbies didn’t quite have the technique down, tho’. A bit tentative. I would be, too, ‘specially if I hadn’t taken my Dramamine.
Ditto for me too, I almost need Dramamine to view video. Could only view for a few seconds.
Do birds get dizzy? Does anyone know?
I got dizzy just watching it!
That’s what I wondered! Getting a leetle dizzy is part of the fun of spinning, I think. That one cockatoo really has the technique down pat and stays on for a long time compared to the others.?
I worry about the edges of those metal vanes, but the birds do seem to be having a good time.
We used to have one in our attic and I once found a half a squirrel tail. Turns out a squirrel had been making a nice little nest in the attic and one day, in exiting, had been caught mid-escape and had his tail lopped off.
Oh, no. So very sad and not cute. Poor skwerlio.
We have lots of squirrels (we feed them) and from time to time one with a shortened tail and they seem to do just fine, amazingly enough. I’m afraid, this year, one squirrel has discovered our fig tree and we have a bumper crop, tho’ not ripe yet. I have a horrible feeling that every one will have squirrel teeth marks in it – they’re not known for their patience for letting things ripen.
Thinking about this post and the last one – we have Caturday and Bunday, why not Birdsday?
Seconded.
They’re taking turns? Too much!
Birds just wanna have fun.
Yay! The turn taking is awesome.
There’s two couples! Double dating at the whirlybird go round.
The UK news media is all over the rights owner trying to buy the footage from them. There already are three messages left on the youtube post!
You spin me right round, baby
Right round like a record, baby
Right round round round……
I heard that too!
Where is this magical place where cockatoos play on the rooftops?
Exactly. What country is this in? There sure are a lot of media who want to ‘buy’ rights to it. Seems like it might be a South African or South American country maybe.
It reminds me of those mechanical bull rides/rodeo riding– who can stay on the longest in a stylish manner.
“Stylish” meaning not blowing your lunch???
lol! Yes, well that too! 😀
Let’s whirl, but not hurl.
Reminds of the crows sledding down a roof.
